SOS Rice Appeal 2013 begins around Pattaya

PATTAYA:--For seventeen years the annual SOS Rice Appeal has been collecting donations of rice from the generous people of Pattaya, all of which goes to help feed the 850 underprivileged children and students with disabilities living and studying at the Father Ray Foundation.

The Father Ray Foundation uses 75,000kgs of rice each year, but as food prices continue to rise they need your help

I donated 100kg about 7 months ago when I was flush, also a motorcycle.

The Father Ray Foundation is a GREAT one and they help a LOT of children and everyone is a volenteer so I suggest if anyone really wants to give something back to the people of Thailand that they get ahold of them.

I don't understand your comment? Well I do understand it, it means it should be everywhere but what are you relating it to?

The warehouses full of rice all over Thailand rotting away

There are so many decent foreigners in Thailand that would like to help out but don't know how or where to go about it. We all see the young (and old) beggers on the street and some are legitimate and some are not. When I first moved to Thailand (in Bkk) I was always giving my pocket change to the poor young children posted on street benches around th city and that was fine however the FRF is as I said a really helpful society and are sometimes looking for volunteers as well.

I have been fortunate enough to bring my guitar down and play songs for the kids (blind, orphans, disabled) and put smiles on there face and I will say that it is such a good feeling when you are done that you actually need to "come down" from the high.

This is one foundation that assures you if you give that it is actually going to a legitimate place.

PS: If you visit the FRF on Sukhumvit rd between Pattaya Klang and Pattaya Nua on the West side, they also have some nice t-shirts etc for sale cheap.

Funny, I have never heard of that. Can you elaborate please where these are etc? Also let's not turn a very positive post into a "slash & bash" post please and maybe concider donating. After all if there was warehouses of rice rotting away all over Thailand I'm sure the FRF would know about it and not be asking for kind people to donate.

Please lets not get off topic into the rice pledging scheme thanks wai2.gif

I have a real hard time donating anything to a religious run charity considering how much evil has been done in the history of mankind in the name of religions. That said, the Father Ray folks do seem to do allot of good but I still think I'll pass out of an abundance of caution.

You are joking yes?

I am not a rich man these days however next time I go to Foodland I will certainly add a bag of rice to my bill and give it away.

Can't agree more. Such a great cause. Count me in! Anything for the children.
