Broken iPad screen.

Any ideas on Samui? I know you can in BKK, how about here?

Me too, My son's 10" GPAD screen has so far drawn a blank & that seemingly includes Bkk outlets that supply those that are here.

Would they do Google nexus 7 mk1? Cracked screen?

Is that small shop in the corner next to the other phone shops near the food court?

Re GPADs @ #2; All suggestions so far have already been tried & were unable to assist. The shop opposite Maenam post office couldn't find one via his usual outlets & is currently trying elsewhere. I still have the box & manual (device is a year old) & will try to contact the supplier if I can find their website/details.

Edit: It's not looking good as the link on the side of the box appears to no longer be in service. www.gpadtablet.com. My wife will try their regional phone numbers tomorrow.

I hope this doesn't hijack the OP's thread, given we're essentially trying to solve the same problem.

Ive been told there is a shop opposite makro as well 2,500 THB for an ipad screen, as for the gpad you might be best to try and order a replacement screen of the internet then get someone here to fit it.

Thanks for the tip PoorSucker clap2.gif I had the screen for my iPad 3 replaced today. It cost 2,500B and took 2 hours.

The iPad works fine, but don't expect a your iPad to look like it hasn't had its screen replaced. No complaints from me though.

Cool news! I am also interested and just want to confirm one little detail - was that an issue with glass or screen?

thank you :)

Keizi, completely shattered.

Keizi, completely shattered.

I think he wants to know what was wrong with the replacement one.

I got my replacement screen for my Tab2 today, ordered from China for 800 baht.

Let's see how long it lasts this time under my son careful handling....

Aaaaaahhh. Erm, nothing. But the corners of the ipad have been bent. I guess this was to get the screen out. Also if I run my finger around the edge of the ipad, it's not smooth like before. No problems with the screen though.

An update on my ipad.

About a week or two ago, the screen became loose and I could 'click' it up and down. It gradually got worse so I took it back to the shop to be re-fitted. The guy tried to re-fit it, but it still squeaks on two corners from movement. The guy said that was the best he could do because the ipad is damaged underneath the screen.

Not passing judgements, just reporting what has happened. For me, it seems the fix is just a temporary one and it is just a matter of time before I have to buy another.

What about the small orange shop opposite Sirisin? He does Mac stuff, so maybe he can do it. Or maybe iBeats in Tesco Lotus, or Banana IT might know someone.

EDIT... Just saw the date of OP's original post.

Yes, go ask Boyd at M Net (the orange sign shop) ^ ask him for his opinion... he's usually pretty straight up! thumbsup.gif

Ibeats will send people to M Net, too, they don't do ... same with BananaIT.

I noticed yesterday, Boyd, had sign on door not open to 4 pm... I have to take something to him too...

Here is his number... 083 388 4422 .... give him a shout first! Make sure he'll be there...

He's usually is in the evenings because of his Internet Shop is busy!

Regarding previous post ^ MNet

Please anyone calling Boyd at MNet, do so after 11 AM... shop is open late .... so he sleeps in late!

The number... 083 388 4422 .... give him a shout first! Make sure he'll be there... as he is some times out on "house calls"

He's usually is in the evenings because of his Internet Shop business is usually busy!

He says he's been getting too many early morning calls... so please understand and do not call early! wink.png

Quick reply on recent (Feb 2014) experience at the BicC shop as suggested by PoorSucker:

- We were in Koh Samui for a 2 week family holiday in February 2014.

- After reading this thread, we decided to NOT have our iPads repaired at home (Warsaw, Poland), but to take 2 broken screen iPads (iPad 1 & iPad 4) with us, to go for the BicC shop on Samui itself.

- Shop offer (and finally paid price) was 3,000 THB for the iPad 1 screen, and 7,000 THB for the iPad 4 screen.

- We left our iPads there on Saturday. The shop assistant said the screens would be ordered and shipped to them on Monday, and we can pick up our repaired iPads on Tuesday at 8 pm.

- Pick up on Tuesday at 8 pm as agreed. Both iPads looked and still do look as new. Yes, of course you CAN see that there were some repairs (usually where there's a bit of glue visible on the edges; really a little bit, only ... but if you search for it, you'll find it). However, we did not (yet) experience anything as the user mjj mentioned above.

- 2 thumbs up - 100% recommendation for ultra quick & professional service!

Cheers
