  • Congratulations to farmerjoe for his win and also to Will27 2nd and Gazman 3rd. Would I be right in saying the 3 of them are from Perth. Thanks also to chooka for being the driving force and the wo

Sorry mategiggle.gif

Well well well...

Well played sir... Though your "good heart" title may have to be up for re-evaluation tongue.png

Bombers and Crows?

Not often a team kicks 7 straight goals first quarter and I still favour the other team to win.

Essendon leading Adealide :42 - 18

I picked Ade but not looking too good.

Ade came back near the end of the quarter but couldn't kick a goal.

They're getting smashed out of the middle.

Mate, I thought Adelaide looked better. Essendon's defence is awful. Like a sieve that had its holes punched with a jackhammer.

PS. I tipped Essendon

If moderators saw this and didn't understand Aussies they would see it as personal attacks and not just a group having fun.

Don't be to smug Bookman, your the reason I got cold feet. Wanted to get off your couch and into the bedroom with Foxtel and breakfast in bed. Those party pies are getting boring and time to change places. Your on the sofa. You through out the personal challenge.

Come on mate, you have to back yourself, have a go!

At least Ade have got it back to a manageable amount (19 points) at half time.

Crows still wasteful with 5.7 compared to Essendon's 9.2.

Essendon have struggled to run out games so Ade still in

with a chance, but they would have to kick a few early ones

in the third quarter.

Freo 9.3 to a point at half time.

Are Brisbane a chance to go goaless?

At least you won't be getting away on the field :P

Crows are making a fist of it now 19 points the difference at half time...

Adelaide look the better team and you feel they will run over the top at Essendon at any time. Again Essendon's defence let Adelaide get two late goals. I really hope Essendon do win, or i'll have to concede another point to the #1 tipster!

Brisbane are pathetic at the moment. They got motivated for a few games but from last week have decided they need more top draft picks.

PS. I have one game on the Tv and one game on the computer laugh.png

It's the reason why we get away with it, we're a misunderstood bunch... I mean look at the sport we're talking about here, realistically only professionally played in Australia ;)

The Mods just chalk it up to "aussies being aussies" and leave us to our own devices :P

Brisbane are insipid! Actually heard The Chief mention that about Richmond last night or possibly it was a particular player but I was like "insipid? haha hilarious Chief"

Speaking of TV, CTH has decided not to repair the feed from AN until after June 30 due to contract renewal BS... Spoke with them last night, was none to impressed by their blazé attitude...

Looks like I'll be streaming the games for the rest of the season, which isn't too bad, I can rig up the TV to screen it anyway but sometimes I CBF'ed to do it and just want to push a button on the remote and away we go...

But anyway, I digress...

Suns for premiers!! Those boys are really finding their feet.

Pity I didn't pick them. sad.png

Apparently you did pick them tongue.png

Blow me down! So I did. smile.png

5 so far including Freo.

mate it is 50/50 with me at the moment, 4 players (backmen) back this week after 8 weeks out. umm will listen to SEN in the morning and decide just before the game.

Guys,

Does anyone think the top 4 and top 8 are now locked in?

I know Essendon and Ade are only a game or 2 out but looking

at next weeks fixtures, I have a feeling it will stay as it is.

Marc Murphy withdrawn late with hamstring tightness.

Giants up 31-12 late in the 1st quarter.

Edit- 31-31 at quarter time... Blues kicked the last 3.. And I can't count :P

G'day gang

Last night between episodes of my Orange Is the New Black marathon,

I ventured out on to the verandah to play with the pooches.

It was after the Ade/Ess game and it got me thinking about the footy tipping comp.

Now before the comp, my modus operandi on a Friday went something like this.

Sitting on the Paul Couch at 1630 with a tube of Pringles singing along to

"The boys are back, the boys are back...", just hoping for a good game.

By halftime, I've usually inhaled the Pringles and am looking around for my chocolate.

I'm at peace with the world.

I used to hope for a close game but not anymore. Now I'm just hoping my "tipped" team get's the chocolates. But if even if they do, it's still not over. Now I'm starting to think margins. I can hear myself "go straight up the guts" hoping they kick another sausage if I need one. Or alternatively, "Just hang on to the footy, slow down the tempo" if I'm close.

So, if said team get's the choccies, I'm away for the weekend. I start thinking about Saturday's games. Has Mr Smith posted another smokescreen? Has chookas gone for the Saints? Are BookMan and ripstanley still right up my clacker? The thoughts are endless.

So now we have Saturday and The Hawks come away with the goodies but that's to be expected so I'm not too excited about the result. Then we have the crucial GC/Geelong game coming up. No coverage on AN so I'm monitoring it on the computer. GC are 11 points up at 3 quarter time so I'm reasonably confident the young fella's will have the legs to continue on, but you never can write off the Cats. No probs in the end as GC get up comfortably

Port have predictably taken care of the WB so I'm 4 from 4 and life's good. Off to the footy comp website to see who else picked the Suns (selfishly hoping it's only me). Was reasonably happy that only 3 of us picked GC although I was hoping that ripstanley would bugger off as he's never too far away. Have a look at the internet and Freo are smashing Brissy so now 5 from 5.

So the vital Ess/Ade games starts and in a blink of an eye, Essendon are 5 goals up. Not looking good. Ade kick back in the 2nd quarter and are only 19 points down at half time

Jump onto TV for some discussion and BookMan says he tipped Essendon. The stakes have been raised again. I'm feeling like Garry Ablett and BookMan is Ryan Crowley. I just can't seem to shake him.

Back to the game and it starts to get close. I start to get a bit animated (loud) so the wife who was outside in the garden wanders in and asks me if WC are playing. She like to be given some notice when they're on TV so she can leave the premises as the yelling gives her the shits. I told her no and she asks me why I'm getting so haangry then.

I try to quickly explain the footy tipping competition to her and I don't think she grasped the concept. I tell her I'll explain at 3 quarter time as I'm starting to get more agitated, so she goes back to the garden.

The Mrs hears the noise level has been reduced so comes back in at the break.

I try to explain that some Australian men I know from the internet are in a competition

to see who can pick the most winners. I decide to name names and mention BookMan, chooka, ripstanely and Grannysapples.

She asks why they have funny names. Why is one person named after a chicken? Does the other person like books and is "Apples" Grandpa's first or family name? I find this slightly ironic when some of her friends are called Pong, Poon and Nut but I digress. She ask me what do I get if I win. I get the Thai/Eng dictionary out but I can't adequately explain "bragging rights" to her so she's off outside to the garden again as the last quarter is about to start.

Ade have trimmed the margin back to 9 points when Howlett kicks a miracle goal from the boundary. But wait, on first viewing it looks like it grazed the post. I'm anxiously waiting on the review but it doesn't come. I'm furious. The noise level from the lounge has gone up a notch. The lady behind pops her head over the back fence and asks the wife "you have problem with husband". The wife tells her the footy is on and the neighbour asks if WC are playing (she also like to be given some notice). The Mrs mentions the footy tipping comp but I'm pretty sure it went through to the keeper. Thought I heard "farang ting tong" being mentioned but cannot be sure.

Anyway, back to the game and Essendon have managed to hold on. I'm devastated. Thought Ade were a sneaky chance with 4 minutes to go but Tex dropped a chest mark and Danger, dangerously played on after a mark and had his handball smothered. Game over!

So when the wife thinks it's safe, she wanders back inside to see me at the computer furiously pushing the refresh button. I'm on the AFL Tipping site to see who else picked Essendon. Needless to say there are 6 of us now on 5. BookMan and Mr Smith are still right up my trumpet in 2nd place and ripstanley, Gazman and chooka are hanging around like a bad smell in 3rd position.

So back to Sunday's games. Is Mr Smith going to come home with a wet sail again? Has chooka picked the St's and will BookMan continue his love/hate affair with North Melbourne? Ripstanley is a dark horse and as usual is keeping his cards close to his chest.

Oh well. all will be revealed by tomorrow evening and the boys will butter-up again for next week.

So, in answer to the question as to whether being in the footy comp is good for me or not. I'm still not sure but it's time to get back to Orange Is the New Black.

Well I don't know about that, but what I do know is, GWS 21 points in front at half time...

I used to hope for a close game but not anymore. Now I'm just hoping my "tipped" team get's the chocolates. But if even if they do, it's still not over. Now I'm starting to think margins. I heard about that just before the game but I stuck with Carlton. It's a bad time for Cartlon when I feel Carlton should beat GWS but I am not sure they can beat GWS.

GWS in front at 3 quarter time. Listening to this one online through SEN. Couldn't find an online feed.

Eddie McGuire flies to Baghdad to watch a young Iraqi play Aussie rules and
is suitably impressed and arranges for him to come over to Collingwood.
He's signed to a one-year contract and the kid joins the team for the
pre-season.

Two weeks later the magpies are down by 6 goals to Carlton with only 10
minutes left.

The coach gives the young Iraqi the nod and he goes in. The kid is a
sensation - kicks 7 goals in 10 minutes and wins the game for the magpies!

The fans are thrilled, the players and coaches are delighted, and the media
are in love with the new star

When the player comes off the ground he phones his mum to tell her about his
first day of AFL.

'Hello mum, guess what?' he says, 'I played for 10 minutes today, we were 6
goals down, but I kicked 7 goals and we won. Everybody loves me, the fans,
the media...'

Wonderful,' says his mum, 'Let me tell you about my day. Your father got
shot in the street and robbed, your sister and I were ambushed and beaten,
and your brother has joined a gang of looters, and all while you were having
such great time.'

The young Iraqi is very upset. 'What can I say mum, I'm so sorry.'

'Sorry? You're sorry?' says his mum, 'It's your bloody fault we moved to
Collingwood in the first place!'

Guys,

Does anyone think the top 4 and top 8 are now locked in?

I know Essendon and Ade are only a game or 2 out but looking

at next weeks fixtures, I have a feeling it will stay as it is.

I don't think Essendon and Adelaide are out of it with another 9 rounds to play. Adelaide looked the better team to me against Essendon. West Coasts chances of top 8 hinge on today's game but I don't feel they are up to it on the seasons form.

IMO, Gold Coast and Collingwood are most vulnerable of slipping out of the top 8 with their remaining draw. Of that, I think Collingwood will come through , while Gold Coasts's games are slightly more difficult. North have a very good run home and only their inconsistency will go against them

Top 4 looks fairly solid. Both SYdney and Port will want a top 2 finish for the double home final

Saints are off to a flyer, seems chooka's been insider trading again tongue.png

Billings's kicked 3!

P.S Sorry khun BM but that'll teach Khun Will27 to be so sneaky (picking Essendon) ;) GWS 100 - CFC 92

Tipping comps going to be wide open! Anyone can win that except probably khun beechbum who's some 10 points behind the hansum man khun Will27...
