Ideas for small structure on outside of house

I'm looking for ideas.

I'm hanging a small LPG gas water heater attached to the outside of an exterior wall. Its about the size and height of a bathroom mirror. I need it to have a roof to keep water off the unit. It needs to be safe from theft. Ventilated. On the ground I already have a one meter wide strip of concrete skirting the house.

There needs to be room for at least one LPG tank.

What materials, size and cost do you suggest?

Initially my builder suggested a typical red brick type structure using matching roof tiles. The structure was one squared meter at a cost if 15,000 Baht. It required additional steel to be placed in the concrete 1 meter skirting when installed to handle the weight of the building. He says.

The second idea was building it out of that stuff used to shade Ac units. It has a light metal structure with wooden looking slate's. Using a light weight roofing shingles. 9000 Baht

Was hoping someone had a suggestion. I'm not really familiar with the building techniques and specifically about that slat material.

OK - I don't agree that you need a B15000 shelter for an LPG tank. If you worry about theft, just build a cage around it - just guessing <B1000 + material. If you want to hide it, use the cinder block and simple masonry for < B1000 total. No way should this be an expensive project. Why do you need to "hang it"?

Why do you need any structure?

The heater can be enclosed in a locked steel cabinet anchored to the wall by bolts. And the LPG tank can be placed on the concrete apron and chained/padlock to the wall as well.

I thought of a steel cabinet. I looked around at the Homemart and they were completely clueless what I was asking for. Where can you find it?

My bad: thinking it was about a LPG tank vs. heater. My dyslexia? I just had my local masonry guy build a house for my genset - paid him B800 + materials which were < B500 including vent fan. I built a door out of plywood and gave it 2/2 coats or primer/color. Anyway... it shouldn't cost B15K for something similar.

I'm curious what part of Thailand you line in if you're afraid of someone stealing an in-service LPG water heater ;) Sounds like this add on structure could be the least of your troubles :P

In Issan I see people install cages over their water pumps. I assumed it was for a good reason.

My house will be mostly unoccupied because we haven't moved full time to Thailand.

I've believe I've read in the news about people getting shocked by electricity while trying to steal live wires.

Yah - Issan. Here - maybe everywhere - there are gangs, usually the teens, that get it in their minds to thieve. It does happen and when it does they will steal just about anything that isn't anchored especially when the place is remote. If you live in a village with neighbors, it is less likely. But shit happens no matter where you live in the world. If it's important/expensive to you - protect it no matter where you live.
