PATTAYA:--Weeks of anti-government protests in Bangkok again are taking a toll on tourism in Pattaya, with street merchants reporting quiet times during normally busy high season.

Baht bus driver Mongkud Horkratok said his income is down about a third to 1,000 baht a day. Despite working far off the tourist-route - based on Sukhumvit Road at South Road - he’s reporting fewer customers getting rides.

The major increase in meter taxis and the private taxis have to be taking a toll on the songthews too There are sh*tloads of these meter and private taxis everywhere.

Im surprised there have not been confrontations . Any way its easier to get a ride on a songthew as there are alot of empty ones now.

JT - any comments on the high season income of a baht bus driver at an implied 1,500 Baht per day? rolleyes.gif

If he works every day he will still make 28000 baht, not bad, almost the same salary as an expat teacher .

But he needs to pay either a rental fee or a payment to purchase the vehicle out of that plus fuel and maintenance which would be a hefty sum
