Gents, I am starting this topic on behalf of a friend who's coming to LOS to marry his GF in 2 weeks.

After reading an info page at Sunbelt Asia website (http://www.lawyer.th.com/QR-marriage-information.asp) we got a few questions :

1) {A widow or divorcee will be permitted to remarry not less than 310 days after the previous marriage has expired} My pal got finally his divorce in Europe 2 weeks ago. Can he marry in Thailand right away or does he need to wait for nearly a year ? (He first started his divorce proceedings in Europe 7 months ago)

2) {Permission from the parents is required for parties under legal age}

His wife to be turned 18 last month.Do they need permission from her parents ?

3) I read somewhere that if you are divorced and want to marry in Thailand you need to present also divorce papers at the amphu. Isn't the embassy letter sufficient on that matter ?Can you supply more info on that ?

and finally a visa question :

4) is it still possible to get a one year multiple entry non-O Visa at Penang ? ( I got mine easily last year)

Many thanks in advance

She just turned 18 last month and he just got divorced? Honestly, if there is a waiting period, I think it'd actually be a good thing for both parties. Not sure what the hurry is.

1. Applies to female to allow for birth of a child and can be excepted if not pregnant - NA in your friends case.

2. Yes permission will be required.

3. Divorce papers will be required at some stage I believe and they may go to MFA for legalization as with the Embassy paper but not sure. Various Embassies seem to have slightly different rules so what may be true for one may not be true at another - most do list requirement if you check there web sites.

4. It may be "possible" but they seem to prefer to issue a single entry for a first application these days. KL seems to be better for the first time multi O.
