Why does the article say 'alleged' vote buying? I have witnessed it first hand.

Not my version of democracy.

And now they are reaping the results, which can only get more ugly.

My God!! A poster who have witnessed corruption first hand!!w00t.gif

Call Suthep. I am sure he will call you on stage and award you a golden something.

Wonder who are paying the wages to rent-a-mob??coffee1.gif

The military has not been charged with anything because they provide themselves amnesty. Surely you know this. What difference does length of time here have on a reasoned argument? I am sure I have read posts by persons who have been posters here for a long time who seem rather stupid to me. I am certain they continue to post despite their lack of reason. You seem to assume that a person who doesn't agree that a coup is the best thing for Thailand is naive. I consider it naive that in place of the corrupt government you want a government led by a corrupt military. I don't think the cure for corruption is the corruption of the law and treason. We simply disagree.

Yes that's the idea. You lead a successful coup and the government installed provides the coup makers amnesty. Actually, over here they don't even need amnesty because no one will charge them.

It makes a big difference the amount of time spent here because you would know things are very very different here then in your cushy 'first world' home country.

I never said you were naive because you didn't agree with a coup or not. I called you naive because in this country, where you obviously haven't been in long, the military is more or less untouchable. So what if you think they're committing treason? Good luck having anyone prosecute them.

This has been argued on this bad a million times already but I will repeat it for your benefit. Any corrupt government who selectively enforces the law and who simply ignores, intimidates or defies the judiciary when the courts rules against them is no longer a legitimate government. So please don't give me BS about the law when the supposedly 'democratic' government applies it only when it benefits them.

I was reading some BS then I look who it was cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcoffee1.gif

Dear Thai people! Please stop allow the leaders of both sides of the divide to use you as pawns!

It goes for the followers of madman Suthep as well for the followers of the wannabe Amart redshirt-leaders.

They couldn't care less about you!! You are just means used to retain their spot at the trough!bah.gif

I doubt too many if any Thais would ever read anything from this forum.

Yeah, they don't want to spend time reading English

Yellows killing yellows to crank it up. Only one side wants bloodshed and the army on the streets. Known tactic of previous yellow demos...toss in some ammo when you are not achieving your goals

agree with you, only that you've mistaken yellow for red.

How can Suthep win his struggle if he does not engineer a coup ?

or you might ask is how can Taksin win unless he turns Thailand into his own one party police state

Oh look. More brilliant behind the scenes information about the evil 'ammarts' without any evidence. clap2.gif

So you believe Suthep is standing up there spewing vitriol without the backing of some of Thailands wealthier people. Thaksin will create his own amart

I believe it's easy to blame what's happening now on unseen and unnamed bogeymen without having one shred of evidence. It's always the case with you people. When you have nothing constructive to add, just blame the 'ammarts'.

PS you want names forget it I like it here whistling.gif

The seemingly obligatory cop-out that somehow just simply naming the bogeyman will have catastrophic results, just like the script of the cheap horror flick, Candyman.

we dont really need a high IQ to see what Suthep's hidden agenda is - he is a power crazy mouth and what he is suggesting is only furthering the divide between the two factions, he would be overjoyed to see a civil war breakout,, he will not accept any suggest to sitting down and talking to seek a resolution or even taking a few steps back, his latest suggest to seize and freeze Bkk is just another of a desperate person believing what he is saying and is loving the limelight he has thrust himself into, just look at him when he is busy spruking his hate stuff, reminds me of a little guy with a funny mo and others in the region, What will happen to him when this all dies down and the police go hunting for him to stand charges for what ever he has been charged with, i am amazed he has not asked HM the king to stand down. the red shirts have been the quite, reasonabely peaceful front in this latest protest and i just hope they stay this way but they have nothing to gain by doing otherwise. will be so interesting to see what 2014 bring to the LOS the thought gives me nightmares. and happy new year to all TV members,

Now let the TV veterans come up with who done it theories.

1. A man in Black

2. A man in Red

3. An resident of the area who's upset with the protesters disrupting his life.

4. An police office getting even for the death of his friend.

5. Someone who love to see a coup

6. An upset housewife because her husband didn't come home for dinner.

7. A TV veteran who wants more to write about here.

Pick one or make up your own silly theory

Simple, it was a Red Shirt....!! Why are you trying to muddy the water...?!

The army chief insisted Friday that the military would remain neutral and said it was up to the election authorities whether the vote could go ahead, but he did not rule out another coup.

"The door is neither closed nor open. In every situation, anything can happen," he said when asked about the possibility of a coup, without elaborating.

Does anyone else think it is odd for the military to openly say it might possibly overthrow the elected government? Isn't he openly admitting potential treason? I know many here condescendingly applaud a coup for Thailand, but would be horrified if it occurred in their home country.

How can the military be tried by the current administration for treason? The act of instigating a coup would remove the current administration, and the following administration would thank them for it...!! So, no, you are one of the few who think that...!!

He is openly telling the current administration (YL & Thaksin) that, for the good of the nation, they need to quit, and quit now...!!

What nonsense to compare the possibility of a coup here to one in, say, England. The ones hanging on to power here would have been arrested at least eighteen months ago in my home country...!!

You are one of those who is condescending the actions of this caretaker "government" without giving any consideration to the long-term impacts of what they are doing to the country.

I've got to tell you that you sound more like Thai than Aussie. Are you Thai with the hidden agenda?

Suthep is not even a player and some people give him far too much credit here. As I said earlier, he is equivalent of Jatuporn or Nattawut but on the other side. This current government, probably the most corrupted one in Thai history, has definitely hidden agenda. The amnesty bill reintroduction. Why not scheduling the elections for May 2014? For the sake of one man only, a convicted criminal and a fugitive in Dubai, they're prepared to start a civil war and turn Thailand into shithole.

You are correct about Suthep. However, if the amnesty bill could be reaffirmed once the parliament reconvenes, why would it matter if it was May 2014? Surely it could be May 2015? May 2016 even, it could still be done. But I was under the impression it couldn't be reaffirmed. Even if it could, do you think the govt would risk it after all the trouble they're going through now? They u-turned pretty quickly.

As for the most 'corrupt Thai government ever' thing, how do you even begin to assess something like that? The rice scheme was pretty bad, yes, but let's not exaggerate things out of all proportion.

I wasn't sure myself. Credit goes to GeorgeO for clarifying that one. There is something about 180 days. Basically, if the elections were held in February 2014 the amnesty bill could be reaffirmed (almost certainly), but if the elections were held in May 2014 the amnesty bill could not be reaffirmed. That would be the end of it.

Find me one Thai government which managed to lose over 13 billion USD within 2 years on one single scam scheme and I'll give it to you. We're talking only about one scheme. I'm not going to talk about tablets for schools, water management etc...etc...The whole economic stability of Thailand and its future is in jeopardy because of irresponsible kleptocrats and nepotists running the current joke of a government.

Find a mirror. Look into it. Reflect upon the post you have just made.

Having a political view is one thing. Allowing it to blind you to reality is another.

One side wants to calm it down and one side wants to rev it up. Now you reflect and tell me who has most to gain by bloodshed. Your answer will lead you to the culprit

+1.

Well I have received my fourth letter from our Canadian embassy in the past month warning us about all this and telling us that to be in Thailand now is not a good idea.

For once, my embassy might be onto something. Thailand is stronly going down hill once again but I predict that this one could be the big one.

It could be Hello Laos soon for me.

Nothing from the UK.

Hopefully they don't know where I am!

I know many Thais who would be highly offended by this post. Here are a few pointers.

Step 1. To avoid further inciting the divide do not use inflammatory terms. e.g. madman Suthep.

Step 2. Use language that cannot be construed as patronizing or condescending.

Step 3. Encourage thought and accept different points of view, even Thai viewpoints.

Step 4. Understand that many Thais actually consider the facts as they affect both them and Thailand

before taking any action.

Step 5. Accept that people the world over align themselves to a political doctrine.

I accept that you may well have the best wishes for the early resolution of this current dilemma

There's no forum rule prohibiting you from identifying the amart.

That's just more disingenuous and untruthful nonsense.

If you are that fearful of discussing the amart, perhaps you shouldn't bring them up nor respond to others that do.

Very clear?

There's not one mention of the amart in rule 2 or any other of the rules.

But if you think that, then by all means you should probably avoid any and all discussion of the amart, unlike your current cherry-picking of what to discuss regarding amart.
