Thanks for the answer.this is the surin prasat border right? Can u tell me the fees for pass tha you just wave downe border and back thailand?thanks a lot.

From Prasat its about 40 km south on the 214 highway. Follow the signs. There is a white commutator van service that you just wave down about 50 baht to the crossing. No cost for Thailand. Cambodia official charge is 20 USD BUT expect 1000 to 1200 baht for visa and if doing a turn around another 300 baht.

Parking on the left side of road is 20 baht. Secured parking by the Thai Army is on the right side and is 100 baht

per day.

Thanks again.going now from khorat

Just a friendly warning. The 24 highway from Nang Rong east is a major suicide run I was on part of it yesterday. The 214 from Prasat to the crossing is not any better. Please take care. This is the number one holiday for road deaths in Thailand.

Bank Of Bangkok in Kap Choeng on the 214 with ATM. This about 12 km from the crossing and yes there are 2 ATM's on you left just before Thai departure. Its been a race track all day throught Kap Choeng. The crossing is going to be packed with casino vans expect a half to 1 km walk if your parking.

From Korat centre it is 214km to Chong Chom. It is 238km to Poipet and would SERIOUSLY consider going in that direction.

CAMBODIAN VISA INFO.docx

According to a Cambodian E Visa web site(not the official Govt.site) -free crossing at Prasat

Extract from web site attached.

Suspect that the officials at the crossing point will have a different story.

I cross at Koh Kong -always pay 20 Dollars. I always get my visa and an argument.

Info on that site is incorrect. Crossing is not free at Choeng Chom never has been and you can not inter Phra Viharn from Thailand..

If you have a smug grin, and time on your hands, you will always get away with $20 at all border crossings.

The only thing I see is a visa not being required for Prasat Preah Vihear which is not the same place.

You have a very valid point. I don't know if the new years traffic will be better..

I should have added the caveat of "if you are going between now and 2nd January"

Otherwise go to Chong Chom and don't forget to stop off at M & d Coffee in Kap Choeng....smile.png

Yes it is the Surin border crossing. Cambodia visa is about 1000 baht. There are no fees on Thai side of border.

I have crossed there three times, and each time they tried to charge me 200 - 300 baht at the Thai side. Just get your stamp and tell them you paid already.

Never heard of the Thai Arrival charging T money only the Cambodian Arrival/Departure Office which is directly across from the Cambodian visa shack. BTW both of these are in Cambodia.

Correct , it is that office. It is not like they ask T money, they just give your stamp and say "200 bath". They do not insist when you refuse to pay. Maybe not always, but it happened to me and last month to my German neighbour (he did not know and paid).

Probably just a double check that you were stamped into the country.

Agreed about M&D, nice man is our D, good coffee, and last time I went there, his wife was wearing her panda disguise ;)

Because of past and present security concerns the Thai Army does have a very large contingent in this area. They are just doing their job. I too have been asked to show my passport.

This has happened to me a dozen or more times. I was told that the army like to make a note of which countries are visiting Thailand - BS? - I don't know.

Thai arrival is just to the left of the tent. The tent is for duty declaration and is staffed. The sand bag outpost is where the army is for checking foreign arrivals and in back is the secured parking which can be had for 100 baht per day.

Sorry, late on parade on this one.

I was told that the soldiers like to keep a record of which country you are from and where you are going in Thailand.Never seen it at any other border crossing.

Totally pointless exercise IMO.

Ironically, you rarely see any customs officials.
