Christopher G Moore will join us with a reading and book signing from his latest Novel "The Marriage Tree".

The Marriage Tree is a top tier crime novel set in a top tier city, Bangkok, to be enjoyed by crime fiction readers everywhere.
It’s okay for Thais to believe in ghosts—it’s their birthright. But why is Vincent Calvino seeing ghosts, and why are they so angry? Calvino is haunted by a series of deaths in Rangoon and Bangkok, when he stumbles onto a new murder case—but is it a new case, or an old one returned from the dead? A murder investigation leads Calvino inside an underworld network smuggling Rohingya out of illegal camps and detention centers. Calvino looks for the killer in the mystical Thai world of sword and marriage trees". —Kevin Cummings,Chiang Mail City News

Cambodia 2001 - a country re-emerges from a half century of war, genocide, famine and cultural collapse.
German Detective Maier travels to Phnom Penh, the Asian kingdom’s ramshackle capital to find the heir to a Hamburg coffee empire.
As soon as the private eye and former war reporter arrives in Cambodia, his search for the young coffee magnate leads into the darkest corners of the country’s history and back in time, through the communist revolution to the White Spider, a Nazi war criminal who hides amongst the detritus of another nation’s collapse and reigns over an ancient Khmer temple deep in the jungles of Cambodia.
Maier, captured and imprisoned, is forced into the worst job of his life – he is to write the biography of the White Spider, a tale of mass murder that reaches from the Cambodian Killing Fields back to Europe’s concentration camps – or die.

John Marengo will read excerpts from James A. Newman's latest novel The White Flamingo. Newman captures the essence of the Thai sex industry and the many characters who populate it. He writes about Fun City, I'm assuming this is Pattaya, but his name suggests the irony that for a place that is so popular, there are a hell of a lot of deeply troubled people there. The book captures that dichotomy to a tee.

It's a terrific murder mystery from someone who knows Thailand inside out.
(John Marengo is one of the most highly recognised acting coaches working in South East Asia today. One of his recent placements as a coach on set was working on The Hangover 2)

Bangkok, also known as Krung Thep or the City of Angels, is an almost-perfect setting for noir fiction, films, music and paintings, and the artistic movement known as Bangkok Noir. Between the gangsters, the beautiful girls, the vibrant nightlife and the gigantic scale of the city itself, full of its diverse millions and their struggles, the lurid and colorful world of Bangkok's notorious nightlife is brought to life in Chris Coles' series of Expressionist-style paintings. Broad, sweeping lines and strong, contrasting colors dominate in these artworks, portraying a chaotic, edgy world of colliding intention and misplaced desire -- lives out of balance, male-female compulsion, alienation and disassociation. At once beautiful and frightening, this collection of paintings is a vibrant celebration of psychedelic Bangkok and its many shades of noir. Chris Coles is an artist and filmmaker who divides his time between Bangkok and the coastline of Maine

A photo gallery slideshow of both published and as yet unpublished Stickman Photos will be shown during the evening. For the uninitiated, Stickman Bangkok is a site created by a NZ expat who intially taught English in Bangkok. The photo gallery is drawn from his huge archive of Bangkok and the Night built up over many years
