More than a million Russians have been killed or seriously wounded on the battlefields of Ukraine. But there is one man who owes his life to the continuing slaughter.

 

For Vladimir Putin, an outbreak of peace means certain death – by assassination, overthrow and execution, or in an international prison cell as a war criminal.

 

The Russian president's only credible hope of survival in the gangster state he has himself created is to prolong the 'special military operation' in Ukraine or to win in such outrageously successful terms that he can turn his attention to other former client states, other victims.

 

Survival, after all, was Putin's objective in launching the invasion in 2022.

 

In his interminable ramblings about history, the Russian president makes great pretence that all of Ukraine – not just the eastern regions of Donbas, Donetsk and Crimea – is part of Russia's empire.

Bill Browder’s mistake was believing that, in the aftermath of communism’s collapse and the chaos that followed, he could reliably profit as an outsider. He learned tragically, and at great personal cost that he could not. Since then, he has devoted his life to making amends for that mistake. As far as I know, he did cash out some chips from that gangster-run casino while he still could, so he’s not exactly short of a few lootewd roubles from that time either. But with Putin’s grip on power and his role at the heart of Russia’s corruption, we all know the rest is just hopeful supposition an outcome that, I would hazard a guess, will never come.

Did you ever guess in your lifetime that Gaddafi would find his life being ended through a bayonet in the anus? He looked for many years to be very secure, until he wasn't.

 

Putin depends on doubles for a reason; not because of his foreign enemies taking potshots at him, but because of internal ones. He has taken a leaf out of Gaddafi's book by creating competing parallel militias, the idea being that this reduces the chances of a revolt by the Army. Didn't work for Gaddafi. Didn't work for Bashir Assad, or Saddam Hussein.

Bill Browder is a Jew who is wanted in Russia for tax evasion. His firm in Russia evaded 16.8 million USD in taxes. 

 

Browder also bought shares illegally in order to influence Gazprom.

 

Browder has been convicted of fraud in Russia and was sentenced to 9 years in jail in absentia.

 

On 30 May 2018, Browder was arrested by Spanish police in Madrid on a Russian Interpol arrest warrant.
