Protesters demand govt explanation of shootings

BANGKOK, Dec 31 – Anti-government protesters have demanded the authorities’ clarification over shootings at demonstrators by police and men in black at the Thai-Japanese stadium on December 26.

Akanat Promphan, spokesman of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), said yesterday that caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, her caretaker deputy Surapong Tovichakchaikul and National Police Chief Adul Saengsingkaew must explain to the public on the violence which killed and injured scores of people.

He demanded explanations for a threat against protest leader Nititorn Lamlua by a group of armed men on Sunday night.

There has been no clarification but a rejection by Metropolitan Police Chief Karonwit Thoopkrachang saying that the men in black were third parties, not police officers or civilians (siding with the government), said Mr Akanat.

He also called on caretaker Labour Minister Chalerm Yubumrung to explain the presence of men in black on the rooftop of the Labour Ministry, located next door to the Thai-Japanese stadium.

“The Labour Ministry is a government building under Mr Chalerm’s supervision. If he could not explain about the men in black, we have to assume that he knew about their presence,” said Mr Akanant.

He said the PDRC has not been contacted by the Election Commission but it stood firm on its original stand for a national reform before a general election is held.

Conflicts will escalate if the government insists on holding the election before a national reform, he said.

The PDRC will hold religious ceremonies and celebrations to mark the New Year at Democracy Monument and Rajdamnoen Avenue tonight and tomorrow morning.

The PDRC has installed closed-circuit cameras at the rally site to enhance security in the area. (MCOT online news)

Well someone is responsible for ALL the shootings, I wonder who???? who would have reason to disrupt ???? who normally adds fuel to the fire ????

The police are protesting re shootings

The protesters are demonstrating re the shootings.

Would the police want to do it ???

Would the protesters want to shoot ???

I have an idea Andy Pandy, Bill and Ben, will know.

Look at this VDO from 0:45 and up!

http://youtu.be/WvcO0qkOiI8

Look at it from .38 - .44 .. then it does a 360 back to the same point.... the one guy in those pics isnt the question, its the 6 or so police in that area at the earlier part of the vid.... also the vid is cut at .36 and begins again at .37 ... why ?

Clear there are a number of police around there but no more than that can be said to be conclusive .. also is this guy hit or shot in the head ... looks like shot but cant be certain...

all very distrubing

So, the police are demanding answers from the police. (from the other thread) The protesters are demanding answers from the polce. And its been Four Days since an explanation was demanded from Chalerm as to who the men in black were that were scurrying across his Labor Ministry roof. Still unanswered, Everyone wants answers. Where's the Answer Lady aka PM? Laying low, as her brother told her to do.

Since he cannot claim the MIB are the protestors, what answer can you expect from him? How can the so called THIRD HAND fly up to the roof top of Labor Ministry?

On the second thought, if they can claim the police smashing those vehicle are protestor in disguise. He probably can claim the MIB are the protestors too.

Why not and so what!

This is indeed truly shocking. The picture of that poor young vendor shot through the head. All you in favour of this sham PTP 'democracy' should watch this. At least the World is waking up to this evil and not spouting about Taksin 'Champion of the poor'. Sickening.

riot police in semi riot gear ? or some army unit in black. the army were there and apparently were doing nothing.

Given both protesters and police are demanding answers and the army was there too .............. whistling.gif

Nothing but gut feeling says there is a third hand in it here.

I remember when the photos of the MIB at the roof top came out. Many writers here rushed to accuse those were photoshop result. The video clips come out, all shut their BIG MOUTH!

Pretty obvious they were just police. Don't know why such things need to be denied. It's not at all clear they were doing anything untoward. Why not be open about it and make things as clear as possible so people don't suspect you have something to hide? Denying the obvious for no good reason is a bit of a Thai tradition though, I guess. Many similarly absurd denials that made little sense in 2010 also.

Poor chap indeed but hes no simple vendor not with that scarf around his neck and band on his wrist.... not what id call in the wrong place at the wrong time, to my eyes he was probably actively taking part in the incident and probably to him in the right place but certainly the wrong time.

Remember the report from the doctor confirm the police who was shot dead was shot from high angle! But the government claims he was killed by protestor and this is published internationally.

I would venture to guess that tens of thousands, if not more, vendors routinely wear Long Live The King wrist bands. As to the injured person's occupation or identity or his actions prior to being injured, I don't know.

But if people do wish to speculate, at least do so from a rudimentarily factual basis.

Or not.

What about Little Weed? You know, the pretty little thing on strings that keeps out of the way most of the time and then when she does speak no one can understand what's she's saying. Can't think who she reminds me of........

As you say, of course he's a protester, not a vendor. I don't think he was shot in the head though. Most likely struck with a baton. Pretty terrible how they just left him. Needs to be investigated but probably won't be...

Are you seriously saying this young vendor deserved to be shot in the head as he was wearing some sign of allegiance to a particular group?

No im not, no one deserves to be shot... read what i wrote and dont try to spin it.

PS there is nothing to say hes a vendor or not, that is also an assumption. most vendors would have been out of there the moment it started getting heated, you dont sell much somtam whaen people are getting teargassed etc which means its unlikely he was trying to chop up a papaya at the time.

Any loss of life is a tragedy but imo it wasnt a place where a simple vendor would have stuck around..

Ask yourselves, who is to gain from an even more chaotic scenario?

The Shins? They are stupid, but not that stupid! Too many fingers will be pointed at them>

Suthep & Co? Not shy to sacrifie a few pawns, but not even he is that extreme?

The police? Enough bad publicity already!

The army? If yes, not the "official" army!

The Amart? Now we are getting hot! They will use any means to keep the feudal system in place. To them all the players on both sides are just means to keep the existing powerstrucure! The powerelite here don't give press-conferences, don't figure in the tabloids and are unknown to most people (even Thais).

But have a look at the major shareholders in the big listed companies, and they are they real power in Thailand both politically and moneywise.

Hire a few off duty army-snipers to shot whoever, to create chaos and conspiracy theories (just look at the posts here!). All in the name of keeping control and their privileges!

And sadly it is working!sad.png

"unknown to most people (even Thais)"

But known by yourself? Who specifically are they then?

"have a look at the major shareholders"

Is that all there is to identify them? If that's the case, then presumably you've already had a look and can tell us who specifically they are then.

whether the Amart are meddling here cant be proven, certainly they wouldnt have any qualms in furthering their own agenda.

Names are real easy to see and find, im sure soi41 likes it here as much as I do so cannot oblige without breaking forum rules
