The Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown (season 3, episode 7) filmed in Chiang Mai will air here this Friday night on CNN International (10 pm according to: http://edition.cnn.com/CNNI/) which can be lived streamed at http://www.hulkusaa.com/cnn-international-live-stream/.

I've also heard it's being aired on True Channel 566 at 8 pm this Friday.

Also up on pirates bay, oneclickwatch.org and I'm sure many more as it was originally aired in the States on Sunday.

Here's a preview http://edition.cnn.com/video/shows/anthony-bourdain-parts-unknown/season-3/thailand/ from the post above.

He runs around with Andy Ricker of Pok Pok (and his other restaurants in America) fame and is up to his usual antic, amusing tv, but don't be fooled as lots of it is set-up like reality tv is, but never the less fun and has food and local spots to enjoy watching. They go to Him Tang, Larb Gum Chum Cha, Kha Moo Chang Puack and Pa Deng Gin Dok among other places to eat.

So now it's time to make my own adventure out of it and go search out each place and try it just like I did when Andy Ricker wrote about CM food in the NYT (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/06/travel/in-chiang-mai-a-chef-traces-his-menus.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0)

Anybody brave enough to make a night out of it and join me, I'll drive!

Love it! Just watched the video. Kind of strange sitting in your apartment, somewhat non-plussed - then come across this and get all enthusiastic about the place again! Goes to show, get out and live it! don't take anything for granted, this place is amazing!!! (and if you don't believe me go home for 3 months and see how much you miss the place! ;) )

I've heard back from another TV member in another thread with a very similar topic (http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/731557-anthony-bourdain-drinking-raw-pigs-blood-soup-and-other-guts-of-animals/). He said he'll be back at the end of this month so that makes 3 of us so far. I'm open to anytime, so in a few weeks I'll contact him and you and anyone else who shows interest (pm me or just post on this thread). I suggest we pick a time and date that's good for everyone and then we'll make a new post with all the details for any others reckless, I mean brave diners wanting to join. Please make any suggestions etc too.

Well then the least we should do is stop in for a drink during our excellent dining adventure. What's the name of your place? There's a little free pr for you and I would guess using the fact that it was used in a tv show could be used for more.

If you make the arrangements for the Parts Unknown Food Crawl in the next two weeks, I'd be happy to join you.

Last night bunch on us, TV members, chefs, food bloggers etc., as well as a special guest, the featured cabaret performer in the show, ate at most of the restaurants that they did. Maybe not as crazy as a night as AB and AR had but we had a great time! Anyone has any questions about where, what etc just ask me here.

Here's a list from the a staffer from the show to give you a head start http://helencho.tumblr.com/post/89678208976/list-of-locations-from-parts-unknown-thailand-with

Yes we had a good night and managed 5 out 6? of the restaurants which wasn't bad seeing that one of them was right out in Mae On. Jungle Chef did a good job of organizing it all and it was a mixed group of interesting people. Not sure what I enjoyed most food wise, probably the raw pig blood soup and the pig brains cooked in banana leaf at Mae On were my favorites.

Thanks again Jungle Chef for the chauffeuring and organization.

They left out the little country karaoke. Drive past Promenada (on your left), turn left at the next major junction, and it's immediately on the left.

It was a Parts Unknown Food Crawl and we left off the whisky factory, karaokes, bars and cabaret but we did wash down the food with a bottle of Lao Khao, a few bottles on Samsung and numerous Leos, Changs etc. just to be polite to our host country's culture.

I was referring to the Helen Cho list of locations, including cabaret and bars.

But I was wrong, I see that the karaoke is there.

Karaoke Bar
162/2, Chiang Mai – 3029 Rural Road, T. Tha Sala,
A. Muang, Chiang Mai 50000
Tony and Andy drink Thai whiskey and beer at this roadside Karaoke bar, and a westerner sings a song in Thai.

But the samnak sak yan / tattoo studio is not, an omission which I believe was intentional to keep folks from over-running the place.
