do schools in Thailand give information to their local immigration bureaus or labour offices when you give up your job as a teacher ?

They will cancel your work permit and can contact immigration.

Your extension ends on the same day your job ends after that date you are liable for for an overstay fine of 500 baht per day.

They should at least contact the labour office.

If you are on a 90 day visa entry there is no problem, if you are on an extension of stay based on your job it ends the day your job ends and you have to leave the country. If you don't you will be on overstay.

If you want to work another time i Thailand it is advisable to cancel the work permit. Some labour office are very strict if you don't cancel it and will be difficult to deal with when you apply for a new WP.
