was compensation offered to flood victims?

Featured Replies

was just wondering if any of the flood victims got compensation from the government after water receeded?

if so, how much were you/they paid in compensation?

should i buy an insurance to cover future floodings? if yes, any pointers?

if your in BKK, I would be buying an flak jacket and AK-47 right now rather than flood insurance...whistling.gif

but to answer your question, I believe people did get paid out, whether all got money from the goverment, I dont know

On the insurance you should check with the insurance company, some may not insure you for flooding, seeing as your living on a flood plain..thumbsup.gif

5000 thb compensation....

per family/house.

yep, not mistake, no zero missing, that is five thousand. :(

oh, should i say that we had about 600.000thb loss due the flood.

i wouldnt try to bank on any compensation if i were you.

no one really heard of flood insurance where we were, not to mention that the house is about 1/2 meter above street level...who thought that the wise government would barricade some areas to generate an artificial 2 meter flood water there for a mere 2 months period only?!?!

maybe i should be thankful they give 5000thb, to buy a new front door. or maybe not. i would rather go without the flooding idiots up high.

We got 5000 in the first compensation and 20000 in the second. We did live in Bang Bua Thong though which was badly effected. Landlady let us of 3months rent too.

Sent from my HUAWEI P6-U06 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

We got 6000 but our friends who are "high-Thai" got like 20-30.000. They live in the same street/moo baan and all houses are on same level.

6000 is nothing compared to the damage but i was in Bang bua Thong right after the flooding and it was much worse there.

I wonder what they have done to stop it from happening again. They have travelled abroad a lot to see how other nations fight floodings, have had experts here to make a good plan and i guess that was it. Along the river are still piles of sandbags as a "dam" but the bags are all broken and the sand is falling out being washed into the drains. Yes they take it very serious.......cheesy.gif

As a result of the flood, my village had a lot of water ( cisterns all full ) and a lot of fish ( people netting fish on the flooded road ).

The government came out and gave us...guess what?

Bottled water and canned fish!

But no money!

Keep in mind, we are Issan and expected to take care of ourselves!

attached are a couple of photos of the flooded village.

Did the whole house collapse?

A bit of paint water damage at most you would of had plenty of warning to remove expensive items.

Guess you did not live throught he floods of 2011

I live in Bang Bua Thong.. badly affected. Government all is safe dont worry dont worry no flooding no flooding.. ect ect.

The people who believed that and left their cars in the village... those were a total write off and insurance did not always cover that.

IF they had given true information lots of people would have lost a lot less... but guess what the corrupt PTP government did what they always do... act if everything is ok until they cant deny it anymore and then its too late.

Taught me a lot (did not loose cars and such) but had enough damage paint and doors and some other furniture.
