Dreams and the Thai meaning vs Western?

I dreamt i was walking up a country road carrying a kettle to find some water and came across a natural spring which led to a clear lake full of fish.

My Thai friend says this is a very good dream and means i will get money.

Just because one Thai person told you what he thought you would want to hear, that doesn't make it some universal Thai interpretation of dreams any more than one person's explanation of some dream on TV would fit all western thought or that there must be some big divide between what Thai and Western people think about everything.

Why not look for commonalities from time to time rather than insisting that some mega-difference exists for everything between Thais and the rest of the world?

True enough, but a dream all the same.

Some dreams are baffling that is why it's interesting to have meanings and other persons views on them.

My view on trying to get some symbolic/universal meaning or prediction from dreams is that we cannot . That is not to say you can not get meaning and or messages from your dreams the trick is to remember your dreams. Most of your dreams occur in the early hours of the morning and It is at this time your brain goes into Delta rhythm , if i remember rightly , This is the same brain rhythm that we enter into when in deep meditation Then our deeper levels of our subconscious are free to float up, so as to speak, into the conscious. The way i understand it , dreams are like a release valve to bring a lot of pent up thoughts, emotions and problems into a state where the conscious brain can sieve though them and deal with them. Therefore , what you dream is personally tailored to only you and only you can relate and make sense of the dream . Dreams can be fun - i often dream in cartoon form for example and ,well , wet dreams , well who doesn't enjoy them . But dreaming is healthy and everybody dreams - it is just that some of us either train ourselves or have the natural ability to remember some of our dreams. But dreams and trying to derive some prediction of the future is pure bullshit and falls into superstition.
