IMO you are judging Thais and their culture based on a very limited "my culture's standards are the one true way" mentality rather than being accepting of differences.

I think, as is often the case, the denigrators are the most vocal (as my mum would put it, "empty vessels make most noise"). Also people tend to be more outspoken and extreme on forums than they are in real life. Derogatory remarks are made in jest sometimes, in sarcasm in others - perhaps in a way that would not be acceptable in out PC policed home countries. Then of course there are the trolls and pot stirrers. However, I guess the majority of this vocal group are just bitter - and like to share their pain / shame / embarrassment by making it look like its the norm rather than just something they walked into personally.

Trolls are quite common here (just look at any political thread - especially currently!) as on any forum. Its easy to set up free online email accounts and then to sign up multiple times - then banning is no punishment. An example: In a thread a while back about Thais going overseas to work, I posted about my sister-in-law who (back then) every year went out to Finland picking blueberries where she could earn more in a month than she did in six months running her business here in Thailand. Two trolls, immediately bounced back and forth having fun at her(my) expense stating matter of factly that she must be a prostitute. A good thread was abandoned by all - it took a while for them to be banned too (even though I hit the report buttons). Some people just take sport in riling others up.

Exactly, and calling here a prostitute is absolutely disgusting.

I see no need for it, I'm not ultra sensitive as has been suggested, I just have a disdain for bs.

I never suggested that you enjoy your time there, merely that if you believe every thread on TV involves Thai-bashing, then you have clearly never been on the rugby threads. You are drawing extrapolations from your own sadly limited experience of this forum and trying to castigate the entire forum on that basis.

I am sure members of other specialist fora - the necrophilia forum, if we have one, or the macrame and crochet forum, will be equally positive. I'm not going to try and second-guess what are your own specific special interests

It's not a question of who's on what "side", things aren't black and white. The goal is for us to try to improve the quality of the discussions going on here

I am stating that the perception here is that you are one of the main offenders guilty of exactly what you are trying to criticize.

Take that feedback as sincere, trying to be helpful holding up a mirror for you so you can try to see the impression your style of communication conveys.

And see if you can find the kernel of truth in it rather than defensively arguing back against it.

Notwithstanding that, I think you'll find that in the specialist fora, and once again, I hold the rugby fora up as prime example, you will find little Thai bashing. Where you choose to send your time within the spectrum of Thaivisa is your affair, but be aware that your experience is dictated by where you go.

Disclaimer. I'm a relative newbie, but I've been in Thailand many times. But I live mostly in Australia. When I was younger I lived in the Muay Thai Camp, but I don't speak Thai. Generally speaking, I can generalise, but it's a disgusting practise in others. I don't generalise Thai people but I generalise Thai People, especially the woman. I'm always extremely polite unless people are rude, and that is why I am rarely polite. Talk right and you will see how friendly I am, which is my code for, unless you say something I agree with you are an idiot.

i guess you are not in Bkk now, well put back this story in his context. Everyone is locked in his bunker, that make already 3 days, tomorrow fourth.. we dont even know when it will end. People are starting to become mad, soon nothing more to eat. And all i hear its these bloody whistle... i should not sleep, they might come. I need a coffee, a iced one... ahhh damned OP
