NE checkpoints to get strict on TV users

Featured Replies

Check out the recent report in the unnamed Bangkok english language newspaper: Immigration in NE Thailand to get strict with inspections of Visa exempt and TV users as well as Immigration Officers that break rules.

It seems that the NE area crossings to Laos will limit Visa exempt entries to 4 and stop agents from getting stamps for people that do not present themselves at the checkpoint.

It appears to be more about those from some nearby countries that can get exempt entries.

But limiting exempt entries to 4 is would be nothing new. It is being done in Mae Sot and Mae Sai already. What they are saying though is greater scrutiny of those who make more than 4 entries.

For tourist visas it is to stop agents from taking peoples passports on visa runs.

I am not aware of any newspaper that can't be named, read the forum rules carefully.

A few newspapers, like the Bangkok Post, do not allow quoting from or linking to their articles. In that case you can say that the Bangkok Post has an article about immigration in the North East and tell what the story is about. But no quotes or links per policy of the Bangkok Post.
