How do you maintain your coffee machine (fully automatic) ?

Recommended Posts

Each one who operates a fully automatic coffee machine should know it has to be cleaned and decalcified in certain cycles otherwise repairs are necessary faster.

Unfortunately in Thailand it seems to be not so easy to buy cleaning tablets and if you get that, these are not inexpensive.

For my Fagor machine they offered 2 tabs for THB 500.- (incl. shipping from BKK).

Yes 2 tabs not 2 packs w00t.gif

How do you solve this problem ?

Baking Soda, cheap as chips 28 baht per bag last a couple of years, machine still fine plug it in every morning for passed 12 years

Use one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-Revere-Ware-Stovetop-Percolator-Copper-Clad-Coffee-Maker-6-Cup-/161200861706

It's a upgraded version of the one my grandfather used and if he ever caught anybody "cleaning" it other than rinsing it out you were in a WOS!

For many years I have used that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moka_pot (the largest named "Junior"), but there is no crema sad.png so I bought the Fagor.

The question is how to clean the fully automatic coffee maker by myself or better where can buy the tabs in Thailand for a reasonable price.

Which brand / type of machine is it ?

I have always used sterodent teeth cleaning tabs.

Interesting solutions - so you don´t know too where to buy the "original" cleaning tabs for a reasonable price in Thailand ?

"Bosch" is a German brand :)

I wonder who is the manufacturer of the brewing unit.

I have just used 25% vinegar into the water canister and ran several shots through the machine, left it in overnight and again in the morning. (hot and cold) Flush with fresh water - about a litre all up.

My filter was nearly blocked. Found this solution somewhere online

Bon Cafe sells inexpensive declassify powder. They have branches in most major cities in Thailand.

Descaler can get at some places - that´s not the main problem.

It runs in the wrong direction :

Not descaler but cleaning tabs !

While we are at it, what do you reckon is a good coffee machine with grinder on top? At work , we had 2 Siemens and even if it is German technology, they were both often broken.

Here in Thailandd they are at around 50,000 baht. What about Bon Cafe and Severin coffee machine with incorporated grinder? Are they any good?

I don´t think that it´s real German technology because of the princip of the brewing unit looks like "Jura" (Swiss).

BTW : Siemens=Bosch

I think machines with grinder on top are "better" because of it´s easier to clean and the beans don´t become hot.

Here my Fagor machine

The bean container is removable. In this way it´s also very easy to empty it it necessary.

For service the worst are old Jura machines like my "Impressa Scala Vario" (have it in Germany):

For clean the brewing unit almost the complete machine has to be dismantled, what takes at least 30 min.

If you believe Jura service once per year incl. take out the brewing unit and clean it would be enough because of the cleaning process, but I clean more often (if in use) and it´s always quite dirty.

I would never buy an expensive coffee machine here in Thailand, they might have a warrenty for 12months but try and find a good service center that can fix it.then after the warrenty runs out then it will cost you.

got an Electrolux drip machine its only 18months been repaired twice and its fked, now I pour in the boiling water myself only difference is you get a hotter cup of coffee. 2,000bht that's enough.

You mean THB 2,000.- for an fully automatic coffee maker / espresso machine whistling.gif ???

If you do not care for good coffee o.k., but in this case you can drink Nescafe and can save the money for any coffee machine.

THB 50,000.- I never would spend for such a machine, but I got mine for THB 18,130.- and that was a great deal.

Don't know about these, but I bought last year last year a Solis Master 5000 (around 40K) (Swiss made) from company in BKK. and I'm satisfied. They mainly sell to offices, restaurants and hotels. Google it.

Solis was the first produced full automatic coffee machines for privat household in the world and sold it together with Saeco beginning in 1985.

But this is not the topic - the topic is where can get unexpensice cleaning tabs (not descalers) for these coffee machines in Thailand wink.png

Have you tried some machine suppliers to see if they can help ? They may not stock the tablets you require but could possibly point you in the right direction.

https://www.dolce-gusto.co.th

http://www.cafecaps.com/?___store=default&___from_store=th

Also I notice http://www.invadeit.co.th/category/coffee-makers/ stock these automatic machines, I have always found them approachable and helpful, might be worth asking them if they know of a supplier.

totster :)

p.s Before you come back with a sarcastic reply please remember that people are just trying to help, whether you appreciate it or not.

I purchased a fully automatic Krups in Australia 50,000+ baht over 8 years ago and had the same problem. It needs two types, the powder and tablets. I had to break down and just order a dozen packets of each and have them sent in. If I remember, it wasn't too expensive and no duty on arrival. I'm sure you know these machines need to be maintained and dumping homemade products are not recommended. You have a big investment, if you can't find someone that can bring for you, find someone to buy and send. For the past several years, I've avoided DHL and fedex and just used regular first class postal. I've never been tagged for duty since I've done that. Good luck!

post-47256-0-48156300-1390540469_thumb.j

Yes, InvadeIt is very helpful, but also very expensive and the most of the items have to be ordered.

Sorry, I didn´t want to answer sarcastic, but I try to avoid a mix between coffee machines, cleaning tabs and descalers.

Realy not helpful are anwers like "I don´t have a coffee machine".

That´s what I did yesterday.

Ordered a box with 200 pcs. for € 15.- and next month someone

will bring them to Phuket smile.png

I have a solution for now, but I hope this thread will help others.

People still hate coffee so much they still use them machines? When I changed hate to love, I got a French Press, two of 'em, fully automatic y'understand, and expressed my devotion to my lovely obsession with every plunge. Maintenance? "Wifey" dropped one and I retired the other one when I discovered my heart was no longer in it. Afib.

I don't have one.

Sent from my GT-I9500 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Sorry to hear that you haven't got a brain.-wai2.gif

May be I missunderstood you, but I understand that you don´t have a coffee machine - correct ?

If it wasn´t a missunderstanding, thank you also .......

Anyway now this thread seems to drift in different directions ....... the solution is found in BKK or overseas.

Over & out :)
