Hi

When I press the download button on my download manager I am offered a range of video files,mp3,mp4,flv etc.............

Which one is best.My player is VLC and it playes them all.I save a lot of them but I'm not pushed for space.

.mkv if you want the best quality and don't mind the larger file size, otherwise .mp4 is usually still decent enough for most people unless of course you have a super size tv in which case .mkv is the go.

If I want to burn to a disc, I've found that the burning software prefers avi files, so I'll either download those or have to convert.

MKV, MP4 and AVI are containers. They have no bearing on the quality of the video/audio they contain.

QFT, darn.. I was reading this thread and dying to post just that!

personally, I would save a video with original extension..

maybe I am dense this afternoon but I don't see how a download manager would actually convert the files

sounds like a basic renaming job to me

besides, there is always loss of quality when converting
