Generally speaking, anybody with brains, or rich connections dodge the draft through going to colleges abroad or buying their way out. They really do this and any Thai will tell you that your kids can do their natinoal service on paper only... for a fee!!!!

Agreed, the soldiers will have a red bias. Wealthy people do have many routes to excusing their children from national service, and poor people don't.

They struggled in 2010 to find Units they could trust to kill the redshirts. This will be much harder this time.

They will be ousted. By santions, uprising Civil war, they will not be able to Govern and nobody is interested in another Constitusion with more laws designed to keep the Status Quo within the Elites.

A Coup is really the start of Civil War and anybody wishing it needs to be prepared for dissapointement... They CAN'T do it!!!

I don't think they looked for trustworthy units, rather the elite engineered those units.

A hand grenade was thrown at the army. Which killed people and united the army against this 'black enemy among the crowd' they'd been told about.

It was similar to the recent hand grenade attacks, where the PDRC miraculously found a room filled with evidence including the hand grenade pin, a red shirt (!). Yet we found out they had changed their marching route past this building and the narrative fell apart quickly. GIven the timing (around army day when the troops were in town), I suspected the same trick, unite the soldiers to 'protect' the protestors from these 'mysterious' black enemy trying to kill them.

Thus the solders think they're the good guys. In 2010 being the good guys meant shooting the 'terrorists' among the protestors. In 2014 it was defending against 'bombers' trying to kill the protestors.

"No matter who wins, you will have to coexist with those who have lost. You can't change their views. We must think ahead, as to how we can coexist in a friendly manner."

He confessed that he was not even able to discuss some aspects of politics with his own wife and mother. "The situation is becoming more constrained. People who think differently are viewed as the enemy."

Ousting the shinamafia is the first target. Building a new conscensus in Thailand and strive for a corruption-free society will be next. Reconciliation is an absolute must for any future situation in Thailand. Luckily now only a small group turns to violence and hatred. But those too have to take part in future society and should not carry on as an irreconcilable cancer.

Forgiveness is an integral part of justice. Both sides in the conflict will face a heavy task in the aftermath of this conflict. They both must win equally in the long run: a better society than the present one.

""No matter who wins, you will have to coexist with those who have lost. You can't change their views"

Elections and Parliamentary systemics are designed to deal with this...Do you think the Conservatives and Labourites of Britain have a greater love for each other than these Thai Elitists and the majority electorate, or the Republicans/Tea Party types for the Democrats?

Reconciliation?...Fohget about it....As long as one side calls the UDD/RS's/PTP the shinamafia (as above) and uneducated dolts, what chances are there of reconciliation do you think.....They are livid when hearing that stuff and vote accordingly.

It is why one must allow Elections and Parliamentary practices to allow to work....In this vein, also fohget about calling Parliament a dictatorship....Voters who construct Parliamentary representation don't appreciate that...It is an attack on them, not the governing majority in parliament.

Pipkins, you might like this, the trove of evidence found after the Friday handgrenade attack, that included the pin from the hand-grenade!

1389963915-1389962487-o.jpg

When they first claimed to find all the evidence of a handgrenade attack against the PDRC, they showed the top photo. People noticed the red cap was a 'Walls Ice cream' cap!

So later the evidence submitted to the police the cap changed to a cap for a Naratiwan soldier (southern province), again something done by PDRC.

So it was clearly a fake evidence trove, and since the evidence was submitted by PDRC, you can tell that the bomb was fake too with a rather clumsy fake at that. Walls ice-cream indeed! Police insignias, ....what an amateur plot. (added, yet notice the PDRC stuck to their story, even the PDRC leaders continued with the story)

So now you have to ask about the very similar incident, in 2010 when a hand-grenade was thrown against the army, that so fired up the army to go after the protestors.

I have a good Thai friend who owns a small shop at Jatujak Market (JJ). He says he used to sell 150-200 items per day before, now he's lucky if he sells 20 per day. If the protests keep up much longer, he will have to close his shop at the end of February because he can't afford to pay the rent anymore. He has a wife and two small children, aged 11 months and 2 years. He says he can't sleep at night anymore because he doesn't know how he will provide for his family.

I am sure there are tens of thousands of such cases in Bangkok right now, but it just touched me personally because I've known him for many years and how hard he works to make ends meet. Then someone like Suthep comes along who has nothing but his own goals in mind and ruins everything that he worked so hard for.

I was at Jatujak recenltly, heavy heavy discounting going on.

lets think 6 month that's 1800 million Baht if a day costs them 10 million - that is a lot of money to recoup through corruption after Sutheps "final victory"!

And that's only to cover the costs! His backers want to see profits - they do not invest for nothing!

Then we may assume that the"Peoples Council" will have to remain in power for rather more than 18 months,

This is the harsh reality for ordinary working people, brought about by Suthep and his whistling idiots.

Destroying the very 'masses he claims to represent.

If Thailand ever gets its act together I'll celebrate the day he and thaksin share a cell!

You and the other red sheeple keep bleating on and on about these mysterious 'elite backers' - care to let us in on the secret and give us some names ? Do you have any proof ? Or are you as I suspect just making crap up like the rest of the UDD / reds / sheeple / caretakers seem to do on a daily basis ? Yeah, thought so. So stop with the bs and talk facts please...
