webfact
Police know identities of three armed men at Laksi clashBANGKOK: -- Police investigators know the identities of three armed men involved in the gun battle at Laksi intersection which left a dozen people injured last Saturday.National Police Office deputy commissioner Pol Gen Aek Angsananont said investigation by the police and examination of video clips on the gun battle showed a total of 22 gunmen were involved. But he said only three of them could be identified and arrest warrant would be sought from the court to make arrest over the next few days.He said these gunmen would be arrested with no bias of which side they belonged to.The senior police officer also said that investigators are also tracking a vehicle which appeared in a video clip to transport weapon into the battle zone.Earlier, the Center for Maintaining Peace and Order accused anti-government protesters of starting the shooting, and said the protest now is not peaceful because protesters were armed. The gun battle erupted when a group of red-shirt supporters of the government confronted anti-government protesters rallying in front of Laksi district office to disrupt election.Gun battle broke out and armed men dress in black and masked were seen helping the protesters’ side to repulse the armed red-shirts.Pol Gen Aek also said the bomb attack at the Victory Monument and the bomb attack on Bantad Thong road was carried out by the same group of people. But he assured that they are not uniformed men.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/police-know-identities-three-armed-men-laksi-clash/ -- Thai PBS 2014-02-
Scamper
Yet again we have the spectacle of the police drawing premature and preemptive conclusions in the midst of an investigation, all the while buttressing a narrative that they are careful never to deviate from. Lakegeneve
Highly reluctant to give much credibility to any thai media reports and police statements regarding this incidents for obvious reasons. However, 22 gunmen!!! Amazing that more people didn't get shot! It will be interesting to see if in the future if this number stands up.

Probably because that were the only 3 that belonged to the PCAD. didn't they previously also claimed they knew the identity of the grenade thrower who was caught on CCTV, then a few days later they retracted the statement and claimed it was one of their own they didn't have a clue. webfact
Police issue progress report on probe into five violent incidentsTHE NATIONBANGKOK: -- THE POLICE Wednesday issued the latest developments in its investigation into five incidents related to political violence - including the shootings at the Lak Si intersection on Sunday. The new report identifies three suspects, pending arrest warrants.A team of policemen tasked with the investigation into 44 cases will meet again Thursday evening to report on further progress, deputy national police chief Pol General Aek Angsananont said. This team met for the first time last week, he added. As many as 18 other people were believed to be involved in the Lak Si shooting as media footage and eyewitnesses interviewed by police showed them carrying and firing weapons.A pick-up truck allegedly carrying the suspects' weapons is also being tracked, he added. So far, two suspects have been arrested for two killings in the first violent incident at Rajamangala Stadium in the Hua Mark area on November 30.Three other killings are still under investigation. The victims include Ramkhamhaeng University students and members of pro-government groups who converged to rally at the stadium as well as a teenager found burned to death in a bus that was set on fire by unknown assailants. An investigation into the second violent clash between anti-government protesters and police officers at the Thai-Japanese Stadium is still underway. Clashes broke out at the stadium during electoral candidacy registration on December 25 and 26, during which a junior police officer and a protester were killed. A man suspected of lobbing a firecracker at the Din Daeng Police Station has also been arrested.Probes into the multiple grenade attacks on protesters at Banthad Thong Road and Victory Monument as well as attacks on the home of Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and property owned by Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra are underway. The suspect is a Thai national, but is not related to the police or military.Footage and photographs shared via social media are being compiled in the investigation into the shooting death of anti-government protest leader Suthin Tarathin at Wat Sri Iam in Bang Na district last month. Do you think there is any police force in the world that would be able to find and arrest all suspects in this time? edit: To be fair, I am sure that the cops know who is involved in several of the attacks, but are unable or reluctant to arrest them. It can be difficult to find people here... Edited February 5, 2014 by EvilDrSomkid

IMO all 22 were identified and they found 3 that were anti "one principle of democracy" supporters. The police chief, Adul, is pretty loyal to Thaksin. Thaksin won't want the people that brought him to power to be arrested thus upsetting the terrorist leaders in the PTP militia wing, UDD. Thaksin is a convicted criminal. (Notice I didn't say IMO for the last 3. Those last 3 are FACT) 2 years and 5 months ago - IMO The rice scheme would fail 2 months and 5 days ago - IMO Chalerm would not uphold his promise to be beheaded on January the 1st, 2014 thus breaking ANOTHER PTP promise. So far so good. Edited February 5, 2014 by djjamie

An anti government protestor firing his M16 from a fertilizer bag..cant hear any return fire Er, if it's in a fertiliser bag, how do you know it's an M16 ...? There's NO WAY that's an M16. Knowing Thais, he'd have emptied the magazine in about 3 seconds ... in the wrong direction. From the muzzle flash and expellation of debris from the barrel, the shortness of barrel (small fertiliser bag, notice?) and poor recoil, I'd say it's more likely a sawn-off shotgun of sorts. Maybe he forgot to empty the bag? I wonder what the shooter was on that he thought he could disguise a weapon in a fertiliser bag in a concrete-surrounded city? Not too many open fields around Laksi ... But it does show the mentality of those who tried to foment trouble. Nip
A Royal Thai police farce classic inspired by the noted free thinker Fr Dougal McGuire…. In relation to the attack at Victory Monument Ted the DNA from the suspect seen throwing the grenade was collected from his vest and cap. He is a Thai national Ted, but he is not related to the police or military. Sure that's no more peculiar than all that stuff we learned in the seminary, you know, Heaven and Hell and everlasting life and all that type of thing. You're not meant to take it seriously, Ted!
