3rd guest policy routine

Hi folks
Just a simple confusion regarding “usual joiner/ extra guest policy” in hotels all around Thailand;
I’ve traveled so many times to Thailand (freelance tour guide) and I know that there are some hotels or guest houses which have extra charge for bringing ladies to the room. But I always got the double room for naughty guys :) and ask at the reception for the matter, if they charge or there’re free. But I wonder how’s this matter for a double room occupied with two people and bringing a lady as third person. Guys would you please tell me about usual policy about this? I mean. Are there hotels to let bring extra 3rd-guest (a lady) for a double room already occupied with 2 persons?
Thanks

Most of the good hotels are like Farang Paul says. I can remember in the late 90's where the front door would take a little cut as they left as they had to leave their id at the door.

The idea is obvious. it is a way for the hotel to protect or attempt to protect the stupid Horny farang that knows no better. I have seen a heard of a few in BKK actually copying the girls ID.

What I find funny is the guy that says that they should not do that. LOL the perfect mark or the tourist that let's her tell him where to go for the night.

Sorry folks but if it was me i will take a little humiliation if there is any to save my ass.

Then use 2 safes

One to protect everything i own external to my body and one to protect my body.

one of the first questions a girl will ask you, "after what your name, how long you stay, where you come form ?"

is "where do u stay" they all will know the joiner fees if any.

Usually its no problem for 3 star an under but a 4-5 star she might suggest a "curtain" /short time hotel

Its looks from the answers so far that just about everyone replying has only ever stayed in Pattaya, Patong Beach, or somewhere near Nana in Bangkok.

It is very common in these areas for joiners to be accepted as a normal part of business after all that is one of the main attractions in these areas and if hotels did not have a joiner friendly policy they just wouldnt get any business.

However once outside these areas the hotel policies can vary quite a bit and some hotels even discourage or reject a woman from joining you in your room if she did not check in with you as your partner in the first place, this is far more common in the more expensive 4 and 5 star hotels outside the well known night life areas

And I think they would certainly have a problem with 2 woman joining you in the room who were not both registered guests

There are a couple of web sites on the internet that list Farang friendly hotels or hotels that permit Joiners either free of with a small charge particularly in Bangkok so do some searching and research.

I always ensure I book a double room for 2 people when I make a reservation as this has saved me paying a joiner fee on a couple of occasions in the past when the girl was asked for her ID at reception.

I have managed to argue that I booked and payed for 2 people to stay so you cannot then try to charge me again for the 2nd person even if I did check in alone.. It worked

I found requesting and in same cases holding ID cards at reception to be quite common and in some cases I have seen the ID cards photo copied as well.

I have also stayed at a hotel where after the girl leaves your room and goes to pick up her ID the reception they then call your room to check you are OK and everything is fine before they give her ID back.

I think this is an excellent idea and it certainly makes the girls aware they cannot get away with anything easily at that kind of hotel

Just for the record I always stay in no more than 3 star quality hotels or decent guest houses and I always do plenty of reseaPLO okrch and read reviews before I book anything

. I always book two people at hotels. Have never ever had a word said to me or been asked for ID from her...

Yes, nearly every hotel here in Thailand

Just walk in - don't ask. The night guard will ask for the girls ID and your room number. All the girls know the routine - there will be no difficulty until you try and bring in more than three at one time.

Had one point at a sign and told me only 1 so I threw her 100 baht and she said 2 ok just keep the noise down....

In 40+ years of traveling to Thailand, I have never been questioned about an overnight 'guest'. Most rooms provide 2 free breakfasts, so when a guest stayed over she alsdo got a free meal.

However, a few years back, I was in the Lobby of athe hotel when a young lady entered on her own. She was stopped by the 'Doorman' and escorted tot he front desk, where they copied her ID and took a photo. Although I thought it was insulting, the Hotel clerk said it was standard policy.

While waiting for the room's occupant to arrive, I asked the girl why she came into the Hotel - her answer "Short Time".

So, maybe there has always been a process for walk-ins to be monitored...

Interesting discussion. I have a room booked at a Chiang Mai resort (4 star on Agoda), double occupancy, for me and my wife. But suddenly my wife invited her sister to come along. Do note that neither my wife nor her sister are bargirls, so keep the wink, wink, nudge, nudge to a minimum please. I don't want to pay for an extra room and assumed that on arrival at the hotel I'd just pay a little extra for the third person. Am I thinking correctly?

Hotel website will usually state the policy/cost for an additional bed in the room

I assume if all 3 of you check in together and agree to pay the additional charge for the extra person / bed then you will be fine.

And if both girls are there together at check in

the can easily explain the arrangements in Thai if there are any questions.

Most of the issues only arise with unexpected and unregistered guests (Bar girls) suddenly turning up.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Knowing Thai families (at least mine!) I'm guessing this isn't that unusual, but a lot of TV posters seem to have a, um, fixation on the tawdry and I was getting uncomfortable with my wife's plan. On the other hand a lot of you guys have an abundance of knowledge. Thanks! I guess I'll just have my wife call the resort and handle it. Hah! Should have thought of that first!

I have heard of the joiners fee just been added as an extra to be paid when checking out, for a double room with 3rd person they usally add 500-1000 baht, but if your 3 rd guest is there for a bit of slap and tickle, then you might find a fee added when checking out, best to ask or at night, i'm sure the porter will turn a blind eye for a few baht.

Taking copy of ID card and/or writing details in a book – often keeping the ID card till the guest leaves – is normal procedure at many or most hotels. However, as posters above has also mentioned, if you stay at four or five star hotels they may not accept “extra guests”, especially arriving late night. That’s also depending of the size of reception area, if you can walk in unattended, and/or the expected dress code. Some hotels may charge extra for a third person occupying a double room; some don’t care. That might also be depending of the where the hotel is. At some places the hotels will have a night guard by the front door for in-check of temporary guests – bringing two ladies back often not a problem, if the hotel is already gained for extra occupancy of a room – however if you stay in a bungalow resort, they may not check anything at all. smile.png

My second night ever in LOS, I took 3 back with me.., yes I was pi$$ed and yes I was a 'Greedy facker' But it was the 'maddest' game of Twister I ever played! w00t.gif

Oh those heady times... Have only ever had one occasion where an extra fee was due and that was a 5 * hotel in BKK which has already been referred to

(and for the record 3 was a crowd, but funny though!) clap2.gif

My opinion is that its a good and safe practice for the hotel to take the ID card or details of a temporary guest.

In the end they are helping to protect thier reputation and your safety.

There have been reports over years of men being drugged and robbed or in rare cases even killed and robbed by Girls and Lady Boys in hotel rooms.

This is more likely to happen if the person is a free lancer or street hooker rather than from a proper Bar or Go Go.

Having proof of identity at the hotel also acts as a deterrent against them doing something illegal.

So I actually prefer staying hotels that care enough to check ID of girls as it makes me feel more comfortable.

Most of the 5 star hotels on Sukhumvit have never charged me extra for 1 guest but most need to retain their ID as other posters have explained above. Most of these hotels do not charge extra for a double booking in any case. The only time I had to pay extra for a guest was at a 4 star near Don Meuang Airport and whilst I did not get a virus my computer did from their expensive wireless!

although your answer is quite fantastic! it's certainly irrelevant! please, i don't think people SHOULD and always answer "just for rising their number of posts"!

i just asked for the situation: i book for people, but i don't go and drink with them in bars!!! and i cannot negotiate with their ladies :)

OP: Surely the real reason your asking is it will be your first visit to Thailand & you want a threesome with your friend.

wow what a wonderful analysis!

i visied thailand so many times. in my own trips, i know how to manage my DK, even alone or threesome :D that was just an easy question regarding "bringing ladies to a double occupied room" but i'm sure people are so curious about your threesome storeis in a different thread :D
