Hello and thanks in advance....

I have a triple entry visa issued from the UK,I arrived in Thailand on the 29th December 2013,My visa expires on the 9thJune,Do I extend for 30 days before my first 60 days runs out or do a border run first? Also possibly going to Udon Thani for a couple of days on the 10th next week the wife wants to go to Laos for a day,if we go for a day and come back do I get an automatic 60 days or am I wasting my first entry?

Cheers

If you leave the country when you re-enter you would use the 2nd entry of your visa.

How long do you plan of staying here? Does your wife have a visa also or is she Thai by chance?

It is possible to get a re-entry permit (1000 baht) for your current 60 day entry that would keep it valid when you return from your trip to Laos.

You can extend every entry by 30 days at immigration. You can do it a couple of weeks early if you want because it starts from the date your entry ends.

You just have to use your last entry before your visa expires and then can extend it also,

My wife is Thai,Im looking for work and have a few things in pipeline,Yeah just going to Laos shopping with friends,Is it just a case of going there for a day and coming back or lots of forms to fill in,I am not doing a visa run as such just a day out shopping,Driving to Udon for a couple days then Laos most likely in Laos only one day, what sort of cost is involved crossing border into Laos?

You will need a visa on arrival for Laos that costs $35 or 1500 baht. You will need a photo and fill out an application form for the visa. It's easy but you might have a short wait if there are a lot others applying for the visa at the same time.

You can get 60 day extension at immigration to visit your wife. Cost is 1900 baht which is the same as for the 30 day extension.

Since you will be getting close to the date your entry runs out I would just use the 2nd entry when you go to Laos. You can make up for any lost days by getting the 60 day extension.

You do the visa on the way into Laos. I assume you are crossing at Nong Kai which would mean it is on the Lao side of the bridge.

When you return to Thailand you pay nothing.

Think so mate,so going from Thailand to Laos pay my 1500 baht and I get my second entry stamp for 60 days back into Thailand

That is correct.

Just fill out the arrival card for Thailand and put your visa number on it. Check you stamp to be sure they gave you 60 days.

Also if you go to Laos on weekends or after normal working hours they will charge an extra 100 or 200 baht for the VOA for overtime.

Yes but you will make up for it by getting a 60 day extension. The entry and extension will take you to close to your visa expiration date. Then do a border run just before your visas expiration date and use the third entry.

the overtime fee in Lao is us$1 not 100-200 Baht and only applies to nationals of countries that need a visa and are applying for one at the border (although even those nationals not requiring a visa or who possess one in advance may still be asked for a small stamping fee at times though this depends on the official). Most nationalities pay $30 for the visa some 35 and Canadians $42. If you don't have us$ the fee in Kip is slightly higher and highest in Baht.
