Worried Abot The Rain Season

Thinking to go to Thailand on 2nd week of June. But very worried about the rain season.

Anybody can give me some advice about the weather? Is it really so rainy all over the country on June?

Don't worry about it. There's no way to plan around the weather. Just practice suitably zen acceptance.

From June through November, it's likely to rain like hel_l from time to time almost anywhere, but it's very rare for it to rain for a long period of time without pause. In the Bangkok area, we frequently get heavy rains in the late afternoon or early evening, as well as the occasional major thumberstorm. The odds always are, however, that no single storm will last more than an hour, and generally far less than that, and that you won't get more than one storm a day.

I agree with the general sentiment above. After a hot dusty day it can be nice to sit on your balcony with a cold beer and watch the rain crash down!

If you want a tan get up early as it will invariably cloud over by mid afternoon.

One note of caution is that the rains have been early this year. I reckon the ground will be saturated from the end of July at this rate so it could be a vintage year for floods especially in BKK.

The rainy season is great. Bangkok has a brief shower once or twice a day that comes quickly, and disappears within 20 minutes. Cools everything down, freshens the air. I think it's a good season to visit. There is a saying though in Bangkok "when the rain starts, the traffic stops" so it's even more important this season to select a place to stay by the sky train or subway for no traffic problems. The islands on the eastern vs western seaboard have different rainy seasons so just go to the one that is dry.

There is supposed to be a weather RSS feed on this site , but I can't get it to work.

You could look at these sites. Though they seem to be down just now?

To answer your question , Thailand suffers two monsoon seasons. One caused by the Indian Ocean the other by the Pacific. The different monsoons effect different parts of the country and happen at different times of year. Generally speaking it can be wet from May to November in Central and Northern Thailand and the opposite is generally the case with Southern Thailand. Of course its the weather so no guarantees.

So where you going?

What does "the opposite" mean? Wet in Southern Thailand from November to May?

That is the cool and dry season for the whole country. :o
