Boyfriend's Tattoo

Featured Replies

I already know how ridiculous I sound, but I'm going to ask anyway because I've been incredibly surprised more than once by some of the things men in this country do.

Anyway, my half-Thai sort of boyfriend recently got a woman's name tattooed around his left nipple, above another tattoo. I can't remember for the life of me now, the exact name, except that it started with a P and ended with porn. He says it's for good luck and did it after seeing some Hindu lady. He also got another one on his back that he says is some kind of Hindu good luck thing.

Anywhere else in the world a woman's name on your boyfriend's chest would be a red flag that he is either shagging or in love with someone else. Here, I just couldn't be sure.

Have any of you seen or heard this kind of thing with male Thais you know? I would appreciate any feedback you have. Please don't be afraid to tell me I'm an idiot. Sometimes you just need hearing it to realize it.

Thanks

The guy sounds a complete idiot to do something like that!

:o alarm bells are ringing :D:D

Anyone who puts a TAT of a person's name on them isnt quite right. :o

Well you aren't quite right!!! :D If you stay together forever than faire enough, but I'm referring to those that don't.

I saw a gal at a beer bar - 10 names on her. Broke up then got a line tat through the last bf name. :D

Well I got my wife's name "Inked" on me. Most of the people here who know me and the people I work with have seen it.

Its a nice job in blue and its been on for 3 years.

nice!

yep, probably one of his girlfriends names. Thinks he can get it by you by claiming religiion.. Plllleassse..

Cana, in my experience he doesn't sound like the type of guy you want to be hanging out with. There are lots of lovely Thai men out there. please choose someone different. It can be hard to ditch Thai "sort of" boyfriends, but be strong and someone better will come along.

Seriously Cana,

You know in your gut that its his girlfriends name, sometimes we dont want to know the truth and considering that you are probably buying his beer for him and he likes the status of a farang girlfriend.....go figure mate

This is one of the few threads in the Ladies forum where an honest guy's opinion will really count. Most everybody, every male at least, can see straight through this guy.

He's using you girl. Throw him out and get a good one instead. Otherwise, you'll only find heartbreak, or worse, at the end of the line.

I asked my husband (who is thai & a tattooist) & he said without knowing exactly the name there is no real way of knowing if this was a religious thing but if it were, it would/should have been done by a monk or one their lay people. He thought it sounded dodgy & so do I. :o

Agreed p1p, this is a man doing this, not a woman. A man's idea of what it means is probably the better gauge than a woman's.

However, it would help to know the name tattooed there, you could try posting in the Thai Language section if you were really interested.

And what do you mean by half thai, sort of? Is he Thai? Was he raised in the Thai culture? This could make a difference as a non-native Thai person might not be aware that any religious tattoos are usually done by a monk and he may have just had a regular tattooist do the job.

SBK - well OP said it was PORN - typical Thai Girl nickname. Or he likes PORN ???? :o

I know a guy with Porn in his name too Brit.

Besides, my point was whether or not it was an auspicious name or a name specifically related to something lucky.

Hey everyone,

Thank you so much for your responses, really. I was away from internet over the weekend so this is my first look at them. I appreciate your good advice, which largely confirmed what I already knew. After posting I decided he and the tattoo were a little too questionable, and unfortunately, the ink issue wasn't even the first clue. I called off whatever it was we had and the tattoo didn't even make it near the top of the list of reasons why, so it didn't come up and I still have no idea what the real deal was but I don't care. Either way, I like to think it was a sign and I'm glad I saw it. When the pickins are slim, I guess it's easier to settle for less.

:o

Thanks again

Well, sometimes a person just needs the final straw, I guess.

I think you did the right thing.

One last thing you should do -- unless you and he used condoms every single time without fail and with no breakage, you should get an HIV test and another one (if the first is negative) in 3-6 months just to be sure.

I know i dont usually post in the ladies forum. To be honest. I dont usually look here. But since i thought i might tonight. The advice given so far most i agree with. From what Sheryl said. It may seem harsh but probably a good idea. get yourself checked out. I'm sure you are fine. But i have been here for a few years and know many girls who dont paint a good picture of Thai guys.(or maybe just guys in general)BTW the tattoo sounds like <deleted>. All the best for the future. Congratulations on a good decision - and the advice about getting tested is vital. It was what I was alluding to in my earlier post: "..... heartbreak, or worse, at the end of the line."

I agree with Boo - Sounds about right that all religious tattoos are usually done by Monks or Lay People. :o

Still very glad to hear you moved on - your'e a smart lady!
