PATTANI, Feb 10 - The spokesman of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC)'s Region 4 on Monday condemned insurgent use of violence against innocent victims in Thailand's southern region.

Gen Pramote Promin, ISOC spokesperson, told a news conference that the latest incident in which a policeman's wife was shot and burnt in Pattani's Yarang district yesterday was to instigate disturbance and put the blame on the authorities.

He expressed his sincere condolences for the victim and said the insurgents should be seriously condemned, for the act was inhumane and the victim was an innocent person.

Gen Pramote said the insurgents' inhumane acts began earlier this month when three children were killed.

Evidence is now being collected for judicial procedures and purposes for further punishment of the wrongdoers.

Meanwhile, a combined force of police and soldiers in the southern border province of Narathiwat raided a temporary shelter of the Runda Kumpulan Kecil (RKK) separatist group on the Tawe Mountain Range in Ra-ngae district.

Over 100 items including bomb-related equipment were seized.

Col Rungroj Anantatho, commander of the 45th Army Ranger regiment, said at least 30 improvised explosives were found, and that the camp was the group's base to assemble homemade bombs to prepare for use in Thailand's three restive southern provinces.

The group's operational leaders, who are active in Narathiwat's Ra-ngae, Chanae, and Cho Ai Rong districts, also plan their orperations at the base, Col. Rungroj said (MCOT online news)

"Gen Pramote said the insurgents' inhumane acts began earlier this month when three children were killed."

I condemn the killing of the Lady, but I still want to know, why and who killed the 3 children.

As about "Evidence is now being collected for judicial procedures and purposes for further punishment of the wrongdoers"

Which wrongdoers, the killers of the Lady or the killers of the 3 children?

originally it was said the the insugents killed the kids in a payback for their parents/father talking to the SOC but the way it was reported was a bit wacky. This changes everything now as the insugents have shown their true cowardly colours by this pathetic deed and hopefully the SOC will now start killing them all instead of just playing games with them. Time for pussy footing is over, they need to grow some balls and attack these pathetic pieces of sh*t and destroy them all.

OMG will you stop running your mouth all over threads demanding and hoping people are killed. Who are "them" ? you dont have a clue and this changes nothing about the southern issue .... 6000 or so dead in the past decade alone and just where has it got everyone ~? nowhere thats where.

You dont think the forces down there are equally to blame for killings over the years ? grow up, violence has not solved anything down there until now and it wont in the future.

Im not sure if your farang or Thai but i do know from your comments about hurting people as an answer is also the sign of a narrow minded coward just like the perpetrators of this article.

Yes, enough blood has been spilled over this. The time for discussing solutions is long overdue, along with some humility on both sides. There needs to be dialogue and consensus, everything else has to be put aside. Geopolitical and religious conflicts can only be solved by cool-headed logical discussions and nexus-point resolutions. Situations like this will drag on for generations, people not yet born will want revenge for what happened to their grandfather etc. For this reason alone, it has to be stopped now and all solutions have to be tabled as a matter of genuine urgency. It is no loss of face to achieve diplomatic breakthroughs, in real terms it is a far larger loss of face to allow bloodshed to drag on for generations.

When all Thai officials...all Thai military....all Thai police...leave the area that the Muslims wish to control...then the killing will stop...otherwise...the blood letting will continue indefinitely...

From my memory it was part of Thailand since the war. Can't be much there worth fighting for.

The resources could be much better spent on the rest of the country. At the very least, a referendum should be held, but it should be at the behest of the Army or they will Accuse PT of treason etc. like they did with the temple.
