Krabi motorcycle hire for Koh Lanta?

Hi there folks,

I am traveling to Krabi next week, en route to Koh Lanta and was wondering if its easier to hire a bike in Krabi, rather than on Koh Lanta itself?

I am planning to spend three weeks mainly on Koh Lanta, but thought if I hire in Krabi, it might be cheaper and more convenient to get around Krabi for a couple of days and then go across on the ferry with it to Koh Lanta.

I have followed the threads on handing over passport versus pp copy/deposit, and I am definitely of the latter school. Can anyone tell me the names (via PM) of some reputable places, either in Krabi or Koh Lanta, who are happy with passport copy and 3000 baht deposit?

If any recommendations on Koh Lanta, which towns, Saladan?

I would not bother taking a bike to Koh Lanta. Not a particularly interesting journey and there are plenty of bike hire places on the island.

No idea about passport/photocopy you'll just have to ask around.
