Where can you find mature coconuts?

Featured Replies

I would love to buy a mature coconut, but don't have a clue where to find them.

Do people actively sell them anywhere in Thailand?

Personally I've always preferred the young ones, but if anyplace would have them it's Klong Teuy's wholesale fresh market.

And it would be the cheapest price, including probably dealing directly with the tree owners.

Lots of mature coconuts on Sukhumvit Soi 7 and if you don't find them there, walk over to Nana.

The short answer is 'No'. For reasons to do with business and convenience mature coconuts are not really very popular with growers and a great many people in Bangkok don't even know what one tastes like.

In the countryside they are often coveted for their unique fragrance.

Your best bet is to go to Bang Nam Phueng market in Phra Padaeng (technically in Samut Prakan but just across the river from Khlong Toey), where they have more coconuts than they know what to do with.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

and while you're there enjoy BKK's green lung countryside

boat rides across the river are <50B, can rent a bike 100 for the afternoon, very nice day out if you have kids
