Hi

I have often read news reports of a state employee (police , army or other) being

transferred to an "inactive post".

What does this really mean ?

You still draw salary , but just don't have to clock in on Monday morning ?

:o

You are sidelined until you can sort out your trouble.

You are not able to receive the unofficial benefits an active post gives you.

You lost face.

That is still not a complete answer.

To be moved to an inactive post means the person concerned has made a serious error either of law or judgment and is no longer to be trusted. They are either sent home on full pay or put in charge of counting the paperclips. They'll normally come to a nice little arrangement which allows them to retire early and receive a big pay off.

Scouse.

But, more importantly, anyone transferred to an inactive post would be moved out of the circle of "back handers", so effectively this is a reduction in income.

For some government and police officials, this would amount to a great deal of money - so no one wants to be made "inactive".

All frivolity aside, when is the poor bugger going to get a correct answer to his question?

He got the answer already.

It's a completely useless post that contains a desk without any work of substance, without any authority whatsoever, and where the person on the inactive post doesn't even need to make an appearance.

Next question;

When does an inactive post become active?

Firstly , who told you about my financial situation ?

Secondly , unfounded allegations about my sexual preferences are uncalled for.
