gerry1011
Looking at the pictures circulating on social media, I would say even less than 4000. They bock a street with just 20 people sitting in the middle of an intersection with their little whistle. Pathetic really. Sent from my iPhone... Several foreign news outlets have reported that when Suthep walks the streets, it's always the same crowd cheering him. When he has walked past, they run down the sidewalks and go stand again at the next street corner. Really? Ah ah ah Then I must admit that Suthep's yellow naive and irrational followers tricked me I would not have thought about it. Now that you say that, I am pretty sure that there are less than 4000 protesters left. If the same guys go up and down all the time, it certainly inflates the head count to the untrained eye Funny yellows Sent from my iPhone... Popular Post LeamchabangLarry
I just drove past Chang Watthana where the monk is speaking. Must have been less than 100 old ladies still around. No joke, go look yourself. You and Rich Teacher seem to be the only nerds worrying about numbers. Who gives a flying <deleted>. The fact is, the roads are still closed, the SOE is still in place. Suthep is still in charge, Satish is still in Thailand a free man, Sonthiyan the terrorist arrested while having lunch at a shopping mall has been released. The PTP is still spinning their wheels. Ask yourselves why your pals at PTP haven't done anything. Puea Thai is political party, not a police force. They cannot arrest people. The police has to do it. And in the case of the SOE, the army may as well. The question is why haven't the police or army done anything. I know the answer. Do you? Most Thais do. Spit it out man, enlighten us. Or are you here just to troll with babbling convenient half facts?

fish fingers
the hotter weather has put paid to the constant presence, the area around the stages are now basically busy market streets in the evening I guess the battlefield is now centering on the courts, the hundreds of thousands of unpaid farmers families etc.
Popular Post tingtongteesood
Why are you servants of Taksin so obsessed by how many people are or are not at the rally sites? This is unimportant. It is now down to the courts to do their jobs, the rallies have already really served their purpose. The continuing rallies however big or small just serve to keep the pressure on the caretakers. Surprise surprise, a great many of the protestors are from Bangkok and they realise this is the case and they are living their daily lives. However, what is important, if I may use politico speak for a moment, is the 'hearts and minds'. Though the people may stay home, they are watching Blue Sky at home, every night in my building the sound of the whistles is coming from behind many a door I walk past on my way in and out and almost every tv I see out and about is on Blue Sky instead of the usual crappy soaps. The people are awakening and starting to understand. Thailand's political scene has been altered, hopefully for the better ( depending which side you support ) and hopefully for a long time. Let's hope the past 3 months lead to better people doing a better job to make all our lives better.

Popular Post tingtongteesood
4000 protesters left, sad. What happened to the 6 million ? Sadder still are the vocal minority that still support Suthep. Sadder yet is supporting an inept dictatorship named PTP as an alternative. Saddest of all is expats who dont support freedom, demonstrations and non violent measures against swindlers who oppress their own people, pocket all the money as the country heads for further disaster. Ah, yes ...the non violent measures. Who could forget about them. And for each one of those pictures you have, we have at least 100 of the red shirts doing the same in 2010. What is your point ? The point from the non brainwashed sheeple side is that the protests have been mostly peaceful and after numerous attacks on the unarmed protestors, some of them decided it was time to defend themselves. Self preservation is human nature. The violence from all sides is unfortunate and should be absolutely condemned. But if you attack people with weapons, don't be surprised if they go and get some of their own. Suteb has told the protestors from day 1 not to use weapons and to be peaceful and for the most part they have been. Peaceful protests against cretinous rubbish governments are an important part of the 'democracy' you sheeple keep shouting about.
rubl
Asoke.jpg Yes, clearly an Emergency Decree is needed to curtail these annoying anti-government protesters. Surely the World, the UN and anyone else invited will agree with us. Caretaker Dept. PM and MoFA, ex-head CAPO Surapong might have said so when today he called on other governments to condemn Thai anti-government protesters, saying they violated the rule of law. Don't forget people are working daily and have their own things to do as well. Not at the protest sites doesn't mean they don't support them. klauskunkel
He also challenged Suthep to swear when he accused him of making 2 million baht earning a day from operating slot machines by a tycoon known as Sia Liang. If such accusation turned out to be true, let he be met with catastrophic fate, Chalerm said and added if this was just a lie then Suthep would face such fate. He said he is a Bhuddist and always have a Buddha image hanging around the neck. He then challenged Suthep to swear if he spoke the truth or just merely a lie. Chalerm's rant: "Suthep says I make 2 million baht a day? From slot machine? I ask you: What is slot machine? If this is true, I will cut my head off (again), in seven days! But if Suthep is the liar man, then this will be Suthep's fate. I swear this by the Buddha around my neck. My Buddha is bigger than Suthep's Buddha. I got it from Jatuporn! There...where is my ice tea?" I just can't get enough of this guy, and to think he is a cabinet member of a government, it boggles the mind...cheers Chalerm! They are obsessed because the discontent with PTP rages on in all class levels, and they don't wanna be wrong. The ship is sinking fast for PTP. (They will have to get new accounts to save the stigma & embarrassment). isn't that the bottom line? Far as blue sky, PTP has been trying to censor the contents and release things in their favor. All over the social media of PTP's feeble commie attempt to control the media..but it ain't working nowadays! not even in china, nor did it in egypt etc.
drand11
I agree, crowds are very low. Asoke has maybe 150 during the day and for maybe 2 hrs at night during speach, maybe 3000. Crowds hardly worthy of shuting down Sukhumvit rd and impacting so many businesses and taxis!!

SamMunich
As we all know, numbers don't matter as much in Thailand as they might matter in the West. Sure, the figures are down, but that is only normal. And even dumb-O Chalerm knows that, when he said, by Songkran he expects the protesters to have gone home altogether. He forgot, that ALL protesters will only go home, when the story is definitely decided one way or another. Let's not forget, Thais have only a week of holidays a year and that might have been used up by staying at the demonstration sites. Amd even protesters have to go to work every once in a while, else they get fired or get no salaries/wages. At the moment their presence is not directly needed, but if, they will be back again in no time and in large numbers. And that is exactly, why the govt' figures don' t attack the sites with the intention of mobbing up. The re-action would be much bigger. So let's just enjoy the nightly free open-air concerts <wg>...

On the upside The red corruption supporters of TVF are not having a lot of luck with the news bites today are they? I mean... come on, almost all threads are against their particular agendas. So this one got posted just for them to 'have their moment' and they are failing miserably even here. The protest numbers may be down but the support is not, around my area which i always imagined the majority would be pro thaksin seems the opposite, The 4 old ladies who run the moma papa shop over the road take it in turns to go to the protest but from early morning till 8pm blue sky tv plays as opposed to the thai soaps in previous times, even motocyc taxis are wearing the armbands...flags and banners are outside to be seen, i feel they are all waiting in the wings ready for the big push if needed.
