Map of house location for marriage visa.

Featured Replies

I have been told I need to supply a map of our house location with my visa application. Will a screenshot of Google earth or Google maps be acceptable? If not where can you get a map that will be. Thanks.

Hand draw a map works, but the Google Maps option also sounds good. Why not take both?

What they want is a simple map showing how to get to your home from the nearest main road.

My wife has done the map with the help of the immigration officer on a form they gave us.

Thanks to both replies.

My Google map was refused. They wanted a hand drawn map.

I use a google map with all roads and address in Thai.

Did not accept the one with English address.

They would only accept a hand drawn map from us. They want Thai style directions on their form, with village names, landmarks, roads, sois, etc. They want what they want and not much you can do about it.

It also depends on what office you go to. I took a Google map in English and they accepted it. I'm outside of Bangkok.

Friend of mine made a map using Google maps - it was refused, he took it home and hand traced the exact same map, which was then happliy accepted the next day.

Don't waste your time making a computer based map, hand drawn is what they want.

Crazy, but TIT after all. Were I ever asked for a hand-drawn map, I would be sorely tempted to provide one showing the most roundabout route from the immigration office to chez moi that I could think of!tongue.png

I just submitted a hand drawn map of the rouet from the immigration office to my village.

I labeled the roads, villages etc. in English and had my wife write the same in Thai under all of the labels I had made.

The folks at immigration were pleased with it and agreed that once in my village they could ask anyone where I was.

But don't forget the photos of yourself with your address sign too!

Don't sweat it...it's simple.

Really sounds like they want to have the map in case of a house visit?

Another proof how difficult to impossible it is in Thailand to find a house from its adress tongue.png

Thanks for all the replies. I was told the map was needed as they may wish to visit the house. In this age I can provide an email with a link to Google street maps with the coordinates for the property and a picture from the street but obviously that would be too easy. Never mind, I look forward to seeing what they accept in the end.

Hand drawn works well with a few closelandmarks................I really am wondering what we all used to do only a few years ago befor the advent of mobile phones, internet, faceache and other socila media.

Thais don't like to be told or shown a better way of doing things. Makes them look dumb and lose face. Just accept the way they do things and you will be a happy camper.
