If this crass, xenophobic and cruel comment is representative of the general Thai way of thinking,

so a bit like the comments white male TV posters make about Thai's everyday on these forums you mean ?..

or the comments by the same posters make about the Russian's, Indians, Chinese, Arabs etc etc whistling.gif

this is not thai people.

why we care?

can stay in myanmar or cambodia if dont like!!

we dont ask you to come here.

this is THAI land.

Wow Poochi, I am humbled to realize that I am not wanted in Thailand. You are right, you did not ask me to come here, I should leave. I think before the next semester. Would you mind doing me a favour after I leave? I teach 500 Thai students UK Physics and US Chemistry and Biology, I have to confess that I am actually a mediocre theoretical Physicist, however I did have some training in Bioscience and Chemistry before entering Veterinary Medicine but sadly I decided the oil business was a better idea so I spent my career as a lowly IT systems support geek for engineers and geoscientists. So I have no doubt that, with your confidence and your crisp analytical thinking style, either you or one of your friends can easily fill in for me. Thanks so much!

Let me say, to add a little humour to my sad story, "Start the Revolution Without Me"

sawwhatdecrap,

PS

But don't worry, the Chinese are coming (Chinese immigration now at the Laos border with plans for 1 million Chinese to live at that staging location on the proposed high speed railline), they may help you in the same efficient manner they helped the Buddhists in another country (name withheld as the place may be unknown to you). The Chinese like red more than yellow. I wonder if that could be a problem.

Poochi, I like Soi bitches a lot more than Soi dogs. Nothing personal.

Anyway, watch out for razor blades in your fish buddy. Choke die.

Ye might want to consider sorting out the slavery in your own country before becoming so self righteous about other countries

Ye might notice who is putting who to work there, the parents. Not right but its not forced abduction and slavery either. it is child abuse of a form but its not actually slavery as you would like to suggest it is as no one has been bought or sold. its classed as child labour not slavery... its a terrible thing in itself too but its not slavery.

cant see anyone being self righeous here btw just condemning Thailand's role and part in a slave trade, i doubt anyones impressed about child labour for any reason anywhere....

If your going to show children on farms working in the US would you care to guestimate how many work on the farms here ? I will bet its in the region of hundreds of thousands here if not more than a million... its fact that children here in farming families almost ALL help on the farm are they slaves in your book too ?

Child labour working with parents actually isnt slavery. Selling a child to another and them making the child work for no salary would be slavery

Fantastic posting but I'm afraid it was written unde the influence ?

What is exaclty "UK Physics" ? How it is different from "Czech Physics" ? Same for "US Chemistry", has it different laws than, e.g in Honduras ?

The rest is a weird mixture of resentment, mental confusion, and poot translitereted Thai language at tourist level. Good luck antsrule, you will need it :)

Slavery is slavery, don't try to pretend that America somehow has a better class of slavery than other countries, for no other reason than it is America.

What ponchi said is not stereotype.

I have met many wonderful Thai people although they are minority people.

The sad truth is we live our live on these slaves.

The slavery is not just an issue in Thailand it happen all over the world mostly we just don't know about it. This case in Thailand as well; we just know some part of it. We don't really know how deep it goes, how cruel it is. (I doubt there are also other forms of slave not just in fishing business.)

In another point of view there are Thai people who were tricked and forced to work as slave or prostitute abroad too.

Another sad truth is I don't know what to do about it even I'm here in Thailand.

I know you might angry but please don't attack on ponchi that much. Psychology is one of my hobby; his/her action and way of thinking reflect his/her mental state. I don't think his/her live very good life. Physical status and physical experience may drastically affect one's mind.

There are bunches of interesting example on "Mystery Diagnosis" series I recommend you to watch.

You all may right about everything regarding ponchi's opinion but there is possibility that you don't know the real reason why he/she said that.

(if ponchi pronounce like porn-chai I think it's he not she. And porn I typed here intend for pronunciation only doesn't mean anything in English.)

The stupid thing is, slavery is actually an inefficient and wasteful method of utilising human resources. The slave states in the USA eventually had more robust and healthy economies after the Civil War there, when freed slaves became consumers (albeit impoverished ones). People working under their own motivation tend to remain healthier, work smarter, and consume more food, clothing and other products. Everyone benefits except the slavers.

If it wasnt so I imagine slavery would be more common. The mighty dollar is still the most effective arbiter of human behaviour.
