BANGKOK: -- Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her entire caretaker cabinet minister cancelled their scheduled meeting at her temporary office inside the Office of the Defense Ministry’s Permanent Secretary citing mass protest as main reason.

The office was crowded with almost ten thousand farmers and anti-government protesters who arrived at 11 a.m. and gathered in front demanding to meet her.

Anti-government protesters were led by all core leaders of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) led by Suthep Thaugsuban.

Barbed wire defense was erected and guarded by soldiers.

As angry farmers waited outside amid the heat of the daylight sun, anger grew when nobody come out to meet farmers. They shouted to see her immediately.

But before the situation went out of control, a spokesman of the Office of the Permanent Secretary Maj-Gen Surachart Jitjaeng said the caretaker prime minister has called off the meeting with reason of the mass protest and that her presence could bring inconvenience to the host.

Angry farmers then shouted and cursed her.

Meanwhile PDRC co-leader Sathit Wongnong-toei spoke through loudspeaker called on the Office of the Permanent Secretary to appoint a representative with authority to meet their leader Suthep Thaugsuban.

He said the PDRC leader wanted to clarify the representative the intention of the protesters to eliminate all the Thaksin regime and would return after the clarification.

Earlier on the Chaengwattana road, hundreds of nail traps were strewn on a 500- meter stretch of the elevated section of the road causing tyres of several vehicles to go flat.

The incident caused added worse traffic jam on the road as well as the expressway exit ramps to Muangthong Thani.

Soldiers were called in to close traffic on the section and began to collect the traps.

The nail traps were strewn by perpetrators to stop farmers and protesters to travel to the Office of the Permanent Secretary to see the caretaker prime minister.

I wonder who those 'perpetrators' were who put up the nail traps. Waiting for CMPO Chalerm to state the PDRC did it, or some posters here to suggest it was just a group of 'concerned citizens' who happened to have a few nailtraps laying around. rolleyes.gif

A fine demonstration of accountability and a love for both Thailand and its peoples from those that wish to further ruin run the country yet again. Nice to see that it isn't only lowly truck, bus, car and van drivers that flee the scene with alacrity, seems that those who consider themselves superior to the people and indeed the legal system are also capable of fleeing the scene.whistling.gif

Indeed the consequence of her brothers action are affecting his sister and her cronies in no uncertain manner. Never mind Thaksin is safe and sound elsewhere and he is not in the least concerned about the fate of his expendable political pawns in his relentless malicious pursuit of absolute power.

Ah well it is always a wise move too depart if the kitchen is too hot.whistling.gif

Lad Phrao 123 post # 19

Flee? As usual TVF with another red meat posting title. There's no shame in avoiding an angry mob which should be put at a distance in the first place, but this is Thailand. The angry rice farmers ironically standing alongside and in hand with the very reason for their current difficulties in being paid, the PDRC.

Continues to amaze how the media generally and the haters here on TVF manage to invert a seditious insurrection by illegal actors of a democratically elected government acting in a responsible and genuine manner to maintain the law and the democracy into a cause juste for a gang of criminals and witless advocates of bringing down the entire Thai state down on their own jingoist heads.

How much has this populist rice scam cost financially and socially in its blatant vote buying properties ?

The numbers are clearly off : I keep reading from the few honest members on here that the fascist Suthep only has 400 supporters left.

Sent from my GT-S7270 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

They told me 6 wheel chair bound grandma's and a few dozen homeless people eating the free food.

They never were good with math facts.

I went by Asoka the other night and there were thousands sitting on the street and walking around. Not sure exact number but would guess 3 or 4 thousand perhaps more wearing colors. If you add the people just passing by not with the red white and blue I would guess 10 thousand over the evening or perhaps more. But this is a busy area every night so number of real supporters is in question. There is however more support for the cause then you may think .... for sure !
