6th Suicide Attempt for severely depressed woman in Jomtien

On Friday afternoon rescue services were called to a house in Jomtien to assist a 43 year old woman who had attempted to take her own life for the 6th time.

Arriving at the house at the Suan Niramit Village 2 in Soi Chayapreuk 2 in Jomtien, medics were directed to the bedroom and approached Khun Chutima who was lying on the bed and appeared to be in severe discomfort and in a semi-conscious state.

She was found by her sister, Khun Malee aged 35, who also lives in the house. She described how her sister was suffering from severe depression and she had attempted to take her life on 5 previous occasions.

This time, she is believed to have consumed toilet cleaner. She was given the task of cleaning the house by her younger sister who wanted to distract her from her suicidal thoughts.

Unfortunately mental health services in Thailand are way below the levels expected in the west. It is unlikely the poor lady is going to get the professional help she needs.
