Easiest way to get a one entry visa?

Featured Replies

Hey there,

I'm a holder of a Swedish passport, in my early 20s. I'm currently in Thailand on the waiver programme (no visa - just 30 days), these expire in about 2 weeks.

I was looking to get a one entry visa that would work for 2 months and then possibly do an extension for another 30 days.

I have some questions:

A. What country can I go to that's the cheapest and quickest way to get the visa? I'd rather be outside of Thailand as short as possible, how long do I have to stay?

B. I currently hold a changeable ticket back to Sweden: it's currently set to expire on March 6, would me applying for a visa around end of february raise any eyebrows? Would I need to leave at that date, or will the visa granted still be for 60 days?

Thanks for the help!!

Sorry, I'm in Bangkok.

The best place would be either Vientianne or Savannakhet Laos. You submit your appliction in the morning of day 1 and pick it up the afternoon of day 2. The ticket is no problem as you will not have to show proof of onward travel.

There are services that offer package deals from Bangkok:http://www.thaivisaservice.com/, or you could fly to Udon Thanli and take the bus to Vientianne. The Loas visa cost varies depending on nationality but is around $35. The website I peovided a link to is an example, I have never used them.

You can get a single entry tourist visa at those locations but you will need to show a ticket out of Thailand to get it.
