Red-shirts force anti-govt singer to ditch Chiang Mai concert

Recommended Posts

" Mr. Pongsak also appeared with PCAD leaders during their campaign to find donations for rice farmers affected by the rice-pledging scheme. "

" Many of the Redshirts who used to support Off are very angry," Ms. Kanyapak said. "

Well, I suppose if donations for the farmers is not the " UDD way ", that might explain why the UDD prefers the method of simply blocking the farmers from traveling to Bangkok.

It's really too bad the farmers didn't know about the concert. They would have enthusiastically occupied every seat in the house, and probably really enjoyed the concert. The UDD would have done their sulking miles away, closer to their Protecting Democracy from Free Expression highway outlook posts.

They wouldn't be able to pay for the tickets.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Khun Offs problem maybe actually finding people who want to buy his tickets in the North rather than them not being able to afford them.

Considering that live shows the breadth and width of the country account for a large percentage of an artists income it's not the smartest of career moves.

Shows in the North and North East are very important and to not be able to play in these regions would have a noticeable impact on his income.

Fair enough if he wants to get up there and express his political views, no one is stopping him, but in such a politically polarized society its guaranteed to not go unnoticed.

Personally I think he (and others like him) has been a very silly boy.

That was just me trying to be funny.

But let me rephrase anyway :

Scamper : It's really too bad the farmers didn't know about the concert. They would have enthusiastically occupied every seat in the house,

Trembly : [the farmers] wouldn't be able to pay for the tickets.

Sounds to me like a good business idea,- at least in Chiang Mai:

Post information, that a known ant-red-shirt artist will show and then let the red-shirts, that will come like moths to the light, start eating and drinking and you make a lot of money from those red-shirts, that are not poor farmers but the "I-got-rich-as-a-red-shirt" kind.

Red democracy again!

Side against my deity and we'll run you out! bah.gif

And unfortunately, as long as there are the hardcore extremist redshirt supporters who are NOT affiliated with the rice farmers, the spirit of Thaksin-DEMO-ocracy will never die...

Those goons want to stay in power AND still receive their bribery money from vote buying and etc. allowances...

Why are you calling other people names that fit like a glove on yourself. Fascists and Nazis are the people who refuse others the right to speak (or sing). Do some reading and have a look in the mirror.

Absolutely. This is how the red gangs work. Those on this forum who continue to support the reds must be blind, demented or have no humanity whatsoever. To me it beggars belief that any right thinking person can support these thugs.

It doesn't have anything to do with democracy or not, it has to do with Suthep and his co-leaders calling the people of the north stupid and buffaloes. Then you expect these people to welcome your people with open arms and greet the with flowers? You guys are really living in a pink dream world.

This singer should have thought about the consequences before siding with Suthep. Remember the video the "celebrities" released telling the poor Thais to come join the street picnic and come shopping at Paragon?

Well, this is their answer.

Ms. Kanyapak Maneechak, said the Redshirts find it unacceptable that Mr. Pongsak has sided with the People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD) by helping PCAD leader Suthep Thaugsuban solicit for donations on 10 February.

Nice answer, very democratic. "the REDSHIRTS find it UNACCEPTABLE".

Now if the lady had said that 'her' red-shirts are anti-PCAD and anti-PDRC leader Suthep, that would be acceptable. Freedom of opinion and so.

Any comments on the PDRC finding the Sek Loso concert in Phuket unacceptable? Freedom of speech and so on.

Oh, you didn't notice.........

I don't support the Redshirts and like the Shinawatra dynasty even less. But:

- I don't think people who support the Redshirst must be blind

- I don' think people who support the Redshirts must be demented and have no humanity

- I do think a "right thinking" person (I suppose meaning a "rational" person) could support them.

I do think that the polarizing language that you use above - as used by Redshirts and PDRC supporters also - is far more a cause of the problems than a solution to any of them.

I have fought against fascists, dictators, left wing leaders (ie Lenin, Mao) and for human rights all my life. I feel very strongly about the damage that Thaksin is doing to this country. End of story

The activist, Ms. Kanyapak Maneechak, said the Redshirts find it unacceptable that Mr. Pongsak has sided with the PCAD

When did indicted red shirt leader Kanyapak return to Thailand? She was a criminal fugitive hiding out in Cambodia along with other fugitive red shirt leaders like Arisaman previously. Spending her time meeting up with fugitive red shirt bomb setters.

Foreign Ministry revokes passports of fugitive reds leaders

and

Suspect admits making bomb

In regards to today's incident, some revealing quotes of hers in an earlier interview.

You meant to say "The singer was stupid to publicly support and back Suthep". Please explain to me how "supporting Suthep" and "publicly supporting and backing Suthep" is different?

If I support Suthep in private that is OK then?

To address your second statement regarding the PDRC protesters shutting down the Sek Loso concert. I could easily say they protestors shut the concert down because the government refused to build a conference hall there until the and I quote again "When you vote for us we will build a conference hall". However I won't retract to that level, because being anti democratic once does not justify being anti democratic twice. So I think it was appalling the concert was shut down and it shows that some supporters on both sides of the political divide actually have more in common than we may think. What they have in common however is not an admirable personal or political trait.

Nice to see you take a step in the right direction. wai2.gif

An will you also take a step in the right direction - and condemn those on both sides that challenges peoples rights to their own opinions and free speech?

. The precedent has been set by groups going on a witch hunt against anyone and anything accused of supporting the government. The alleged protestors were following the lead of the PDRC

Actually, the precedent seems to have been set years earlier by the same red shirt leader Kanyapak that repeated it today.

Suthep is not my friend, and I have little sympathy for the man. He does have some valid points regarding the sad state of this nation though, and I absolutely sympathise with most of his followers. As for the Loso incident in Phuket, which I didn't know about until now, I find just as unacceptable as the behaviour of the reds in Chiang Mai and several other places in this country lately. Freedom of speech is one of the most important pillars of democracy, and any person who obstructs it is an enemy of democracy.

That is a loaded question, but I would not expect anything less from you.

Could people who block elections (because a deputy PM said "Vote for us and we will build you a convention centre" (and therefore abused one principle of democracy)) be called fascists or fighters of all principles of democracy including elections once reform is implemented.

Remember your "team" no matter what they have done to abuse democracy are right. My "team" no matter what they do right are always wrong.

Never forget to defend your "team" blindly.

So with that said what are your views on the red shirts shutting the concert down? Please don't mention the PDRC or Phuket? Just a simple straight forward answer will suffice.

They can be called anything you like. Doesn't mean the adjective is accurate though. That would depend on their particular views. Trying to persuading people to vote for a particular party or not to vote, or vote no or spoil the paper as a protest is fine. Intimidating them through violence, fear of violence, bribery or physically blocking them is wrong.

They could be fascist, communist, anarchist, liberal, socialist, or any combination. All are capable of illegal acts regardless of their particular place on the political spectrum.

I have read it 20 times and I cannot see a difference and I look forward to you elaborating on it. Or as you say, make it more simple.
