webfact
Deputy government spokesperson detained by PDRC while running errand at Siamfile photoBANGKOK, 26 February 2014 (NNT) – Deputy Government Spokesperson First Lieutenant Sunisa Loetphakkhawat was detained by People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) guards for almost an hour on Tuesday while running her own errands in the Siam Square area of Bangkok.First Lieutenant Sunisa was spotted by PDRC protesters who were camped at the Pathumwan rally site when she was in front of a Nittiphon Clinic branch in Siam Square. The protesters then started blowing their whistles and PDRC guards moved in to apprehend her. She was taken to the back of the Bangkok Cultural Center building, near the stage of the Pathumwan rally site, and kept there. Press members were kept from taking photographs of the detainment of the deputy government spokesperson.PDRC core figures such as Suthep Thaugsuban and Sathit Wongnongtoei were reportedly alarmed by the detaining, announcing on stage that guards and protesters must refrain from using violence. Reporters said Mr. Suthep was visibly upset by the development.PDRC guards then took First Lieutenant Sunisa to Siam Paragon mall's car park and released her, after close to an hour of detainment.-- NNT 2014-02-26

ikurauni
It is getting crazier. The opposition can do the same. There always exist people who are extreme. It looks like this political conflict won't end very quickly. More violence yet to come. It is better to stay away from the area.
Popular Post ShannonT
Do these guards have the authority by law to detain people at will now? She was detained on a public street, not on private property. Siam Square doesn't belong to the Suthep militants. Sick bunch of people. Popular Post Credo
I think that's called kidnapping. Or maybe false imprisonment? Have the courts granted some extra powers to the guards?

She was detained on a public street, not on private property. Siam Square doesn't belong to the Suthep militants. Sick bunch of people. I would have thought that Sunisa once she was cornered by whistling protesters was thankful for the intervention of the guards which was clearly for her safety. I bet they also knew that in doing so, there would be many idiots slamming them with 'kidnapping accusations' etc.... They would have been right. Maybe they should have just left her to her fate. Wonder what would have happened had a Dem spokesperson wandered into a red shirt camp???? She was taken by guards to be inside the Bangkok Museum for a while for fear that she might be harmed by some angry protesters. The guards later took her to the car park of Siam Paragon and released her . If you consider this as 'kidnapping' what would you consider all the crimes this government have openly committed not even mentioning all the crimes Thaksin has committed against the public with his slaughterings Edited February 26, 2014 by KillerMan
Popular Post Dr Bruce
Is anybody still wondering why YL is spending most of her time in hiding? Sutheps thugs are detaining people in the street and holding them for questioning, it is about time that the thugs were brought to book. Poor girl must have been terrified, she is only just older than a child. (and very pretty)

jaidam
Hope the guards had a few dozen rolls of tissue paper for this tearful army deserter. virtualtraveller
Come on, tempers and tensions are running high, at worst this is just a publicity own goal for the PDRC, she wasn't roughed up, she was released after an hour, the guards were over zealous and who can blame them in this climate.

Popular Post Robby nz
Looks like the second report is more realistic than the first. What it amounts to is that the guards got her out of out of harms way and took her to a safe place. Mind you she should not have been hassled in the first place. But then neither should the singer in CM. The hate is really out of control on this country and on this board, as we see in previous posts on this subject.

The pro-government side has already assassinated one of the protest leaders on a public road, while he was not even engaged in a protest. And many people already condemned that assassination. But I see many people here does not speak a word about this serious intimidation act. Guys, if we continue to play the football hooligans "my team vs your team" game, we sure not help the situation. Both sides should give themselves a big calm time and condemn criminal attacks, and vile actions like this one. Until cannot lower the tones and reach a dialogue there will be no solution to the present crisis.

They had to take her around the back of a building away from the press and hold her for an hour to protect her? The previous corrupt government may seem like heaven compared to the anarchy that is about to ensue. It's no different than the behaviour of The Red shirts in 2009 and 2010. It certainly wasn't kidnap, but more like false imprisonment. Either way not acceptable. However, on stupidity not sure who is the most stupid, Sunisa for going into that area, or the PDRC guards for detaining her?
