PDRC peaceful rally at National Police Office

BANGKOK: -- Over ten thousand protesters led by almost all the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) leaders rallied in front of the National Police Office to demand justice from the police over the brutal attacks in Trat and Bangkok that killed four children.

All protesters wearing black and white shirts began marching out of four major protest sites to the National Police Office to demand quick investigation by the police and bring the perpetrators for trial.

The wore in black and white to mourn the deaths of the four children who were killed on Saturday’s ferocious gun and bomb attack and Sunday ‘s M 79 grenade attack at Ratchaprasong which left many deaths and injuries.

PDRC secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban pointed the two attacks to the work of lackeys of the Thaksin regime who are now struggling for the last minute to remain in power after their days are now numbered.

The protest rally was met with no resistance by the police but a show of softened stance, thus easing the tension of the two sides.

The protesters thanked the police for what they described as a show of friendship offered by the police in confrontation with protesters, while they also said they came today not to protest but to seek justice for the children who should not have died from the conflict.

They said the police now are not foes but friends after the national police office has earlier rejected to listen to the orders of the Center for the Maintaining of Peace and Order under the command of Chalerm Yoobamrung.

The sudden change of stance came after the Civil Court has ruled that all orders issued by the CMPO are illegal and could not be enforced.

Followed the court’s ruling, the PDRC lawyers then brought caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, CMPO chief Chalerm, and National Police Office commissioner Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaeo to the Criminal Court on murder and attempted murder charges for the deaths and injuries resulted from the suppression by anti-riot police under their orders.

Since then, Pol Gen Adul seemed not to appear at the CMPO and reportedly ordered all the police to abide by the order of the Civil Court strictly.

A PDRC co-leader Sathit Wongnong-toey also addressed protesters last night that the rally today at the National Police Office may be a turning point of the Yingluck government if the police showed a softened stance to protesters unlike in the previous confrontations that they were heavily armed and ready to crush protesters any time when order was given.

At today’s rally, there was no tension but a friendly atmosphere between the protesters and the police.

Protester leaders said their enemies now are the Thaksin regime which they said would be eliminated forever from this land.

well I've got to ask a very obvious question here

Why is the DSI not raising these charges against the CMPO and the others mentioned in the OP - oh wait can the DSI prosecute itself - exactly why this system is so f'cked up, the DSI should be a completely independent entity as should the police

Since November 2013, 70 attacks against the protesters which resulted in 20 deaths and 720 injured, police have not yet arrested any single suspect. Among the deaths are four children aged less than ten.

Suthep said police should use more efforts to find the culprits particularly those involved in the killings of the children.

only in Thailand can people with arrest warrants out against them sit down in front of the police for a chat and go home with no worries. TIT I wonder why the red shirts get a little pissed off when justice is metered out. i don't need to here from Suthep supporters claiming how bad the YS administration is, how none of the granade incidents or nightly shootings gets investigated and why no one is arrested by the police. they cant do their job because the elites have the support of the army and the police are affraid of getting killed by them. wouldnt it be great if the Army did step in and take out the roadblock to peace (Suthep), and then stand by while a government is formed and reforms of all agencies are completed. of course these reforms might take a couple of generations and the army would be sure they were not targeted along with their eliteist friends. Really folks the only way that I see a resolution to this madness is negotiations, where when everything is said and done both sides walk away with a sense of accomplishment. no one is holding a grudge or starts the own demonstration to overthrow the next government. No standing political pary or politician can be involved in the new government under the new rules. I added this just because none of them understand how a democracy is supposed to function. a government of the people and for the people. I know the US can not do it either.

Rallying outside Police HQ must be a huge loss of face to Chalerm and his acolytes. How many times has he had the opportunity to arrest his #1 target now? Suthep is mocking Chalerm, standing on the steps of his seat of power. Looks like even the RTP are refusing to listen to Chalerm now.

Suthep must've got his orders from his puppet-masters to head on down there. Oh, and "peaceful protestors" don't call for the "Thaksin regime [to be] be eliminated forever from this land"

PDRC have become thugs, who care little how many die in their power-grab now.

Something wrong with asking the police to please find the murderers of innocent children. Is there?

20 poeple have been killed the last 2 months and NOBODY was caught. Is that normal?

This detail from the OP posts pretty much says it all:

Since November 2013, 70 attacks against the protesters which resulted in 20 deaths and 720 injured, police have not yet arrested any single suspect.

Perhaps there are some issues about the exact number of attacks and casualties, but the basic principle is undeniable.

For all the various attacks on protesters, police haven't arrested a single soul.

This was by any accounts a peaceful event today, and the police commendably showed the wisdom of the Civil Court ruling. The people were there for a reason, they were there by constitutional right, and they conveyed a strong message through that constitutional right.

Wow, ten thousand.

What happen to the other 5.990,000 protesters?

Seduced by the dark side?

Yep, 10,000 peaceful protesters looking for justice to the heartless killing of innocent children, as opposed to 4,000 government supporters in Nakon Ratchasima celebrating these same killings....

10,000 wow,... they're still gonna be outnumbered by a hundred fold by the Red shirts who are NOT affiliated with the rice farmers,.... need I say more.

Funny... Its not only in Thailand. It is in the Ukraine (early on), and it was in Egypt as well (early on). Protesters in the UK can call for soldiers to be beheaded for 'their' war on Islam. The US, well am just not gonna go there!

You don't wanna hear about grenades??? Good for you, shall we forget the children who were murdered, shall we? Maybe we should forget today's pictures of a Father, his life completely destroyed for shopping in a Big C with his kids?

If you want to be a politician go home and try it. However a lot of your comments are number one, insensitive and number 2 stupid! Do you honestly believe that if there is an election and PTP get in, there would be peace? You are deluded. Do you think if everyone agreed and the dems or PDRC got in there would be Peace? No the UDD would bring the men in black and the fire bombs and RPG's back to BKK. There is no easy answer but what you write above is definitely NOT the answer.

Granade = grenade

Eliteist = elitist

Pary = party

Affraid = afraid

Are you over the age of 18? Sorry just wondered, because the my dad is bigger than your dad thing is juvenile; just like you! As other posters have said it's not about the numbers. Any chance you can get that through your thick skull? It was about a campaign for justice, over the murder of little children. Are you against that? Were you among the 4000 idiots cheering this news earlier in the week?

Any chance the MODS can start a TV - juvenile for the kids?

Grow up!

The real enemy of these protesters isn't Thaksin at all, its their own boneheaded stupidity.

Do you know why I do not ever post a comment saying

"The real enemy of the PTP is not the PDRC at all, it is there own stupidity".

Do you know why I don't say that?

Because all it would do is highlight my own boneheaded stupidity. And you are trying to say others are boneheaded stupid. I bet if they posted they would have more substance than your posts.

I cringe when I read some of your posts. Cringe out of embarrassment for you.

Add some substance man, some facts, some links to back your claim.
