Pheu Thai ask military for answer on attack at CMPO

anusorn-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The ruling Pheu Thai party today asked the military for clarification over last night’s M 79 attack on the Center for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO).

Three grenades were fired into the CMPO but one missed and fell at the car park area of Thai PBS TV channel station, and two others hit on the ground of the CMPO compound.

One grenade did not explode when it landed near a tent where anti-riot police from Bung Kan province were staying.

Pheu Thai party’s deputy spokesman Anusorn Iamsa-ard said the unexploded M 79 grenade was initially proved to be fired from multi-load M 79 grenade launcher which is not used in the police force and not used by civilians.

He then asked if this type of grenade launcher is not used in the police force or in any criminal use by civilians, who else will have such weapon in possession.

He also questioned the Armed Forces on the arrest of two Navy SEAL troopers by Bukkalo police yesterday with two Glock handguns and 60 rounds of ammunition. The two troopers are still in navy service, he said.

Such arrest did not just happen yesterday but happened many times in the past.

He said the Armed Forces needn’t have to answer Pheu Thai but it should explain to the people about these incidents.

If Thaksin is arming his rebels, I would think he can easily get those launchers into Thailand through his network of terrorists in Myanmar and Cambodia.

First though PTP my want to go into details of why they know it was a multi-launcher and not 3 or 4 people with single launchers?

Or maybe the PTP would like to ask their party leader Churapong why he is calling on all red shirts to take up arms and destroy!!!

Finally maybe he should ask the CMPO about why so far they have gone through 10 BN baht in 33 days when the costs have been estimated under 1 BN baht. (Bangkok Post)

There are a lot more serious questions to be asking rather than alluding to stupid accusatory posers with zero base evidence to support them.

he knows because he probably set it all up to try to lay blame at the feet of the army and to garner support for the ptp after all their attacks on the protesters backfired on them. These idiots just get worse and continually show how stupid and brain dead they really are.

A fair supposition to make, especially when no one got hurt.

Anyone with enough money to buy one.

An AK assault rifle, grenade launchers and many other weapons of destruction are available for a few baht just across the border; the big question is how did the weapons manage to get across our borders under the watchful eyes of the immigration and boarder police???

Some one should get the facts straight before opening their mount. A M 79 is a single shot, shoulder fired launcher for a 40 MM projectile. It is not multi-load weapon. The fragmentation grenade is arms by velocity and revolution. There are many weapons in Thailand that also fire fragmentation grandees,

one keeps wondering if those PT people are sane or not.

cheering at the deaths of anti-governmet supporters, innocent shoppers at Big C, and calling fot a separated Thailand and making threats with 10.000.000 guns is accepted, but now the office of Thailands biggest alcoholic is under fire, all hell brake loose……..

Yes that confirms that PT/Thaksin only care about themselves. They even cheat and betray their own voters through the rice scheme.

UDD logic dictates that these grenades were actually thrown by the CMPO to garner support so the civl court will understand these protestors are not peaceful and overturn it's decision and allow the use of force.

Not me saying this. It is UDD logic. Their logic dictates that the PDRC are blowing themselves up to further there cause and the CMPO are blowing themselves up to further their cause.

More of a question of greed than sanity IMO. There are side effects to being consumed by this very common disease.

These are very apparent in some more than others.

" Pheu Thai is clearly intent on getting the army dragged into the conversation. But Prayuth is rightly maintaining the proper stance of neutrality. Pheu Thai's innuendos are most definitively baiting, however, and the motives of Pheu Thai for doing so are clearly questionable. "

The last report said 4 were fired 2 into each, now changed to 3 with 2 into CMPO.

I suspect it is just as likely that the attack was against the TV station and 2 missed.

And to confirm that it was 4 :

EOD team inspects blast sites at CMPO HQ and ThaiPBS station

BANGKOK, 27 February 2014 (NNT) - Members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team are set to inspect the scenes of grenade attacks last night at the Thai PBS television station and the adjacent Royal Thai Police Sports Club.

Four M79 grenades were fired at the Royal Thai Police Sports Club and Thai PBS television station on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road after 7pm, but no injuries were reported. The blast damaged three cars in the Thai PBS parking lot.

The sports club compound also houses the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO).

The team will carry out a thorough inspection of the sites to determine where the grenades were fired from. The crime scenes have been sealed off from public entry and security has been tightened near the CMPO and the television station. Police officers from nearby stations will also be recruited to survey the sites.

So one of the grenades that landed in the TV station has been forgotten, could this be to make it look like they were aimed at CMPO ?

And

He then asked if this type of grenade launcher is not used in the police force or in any criminal use by civilians

Now tell us who have been the only 'civilians' who have been proven to use these weapons in the past ? Hint, 2010.

The M79 in a Vietnam era single shot shoulder fired grenade launcher. Think of something like a cross between shotgun and a flare gun or a marine line thrower. It was updated into M203 which is effectively 1/2 an M79, minus the stock, hanging under a M16 or M4 rifle (and others) barrel It too is single shot. The US military experimented with the EX-41, a multishot weapon for the same M79 grenades, but after one prototype was built the program was abandoned in mid-late 1990's. Source: Google & Wiki: The reds must have got that experimental gun, or there was more than one firer or one guy with enough time to fire 4 rounds. Perhaps they did it to make people feel sorry for them like Suthep is supposed to be doing.

OOPs Sorry. Forgot about the South African Milkor rotary launcher. They made a whole series of these things from 12ga up. The 12ga one was called a Striker and was largely made of plastic.

Surely better to ask Chalerm.

He ''knows everything about (both) the attacks, but would reveal details about them later''.

Exactly my thought.

Charlem is a Pheu Thai member and minister.

Also Chief from the CMPO - CAPO - DSI

He knows all details about the attacks!

Why the PT not ask Charlem?

Source:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/706795-bangkok-ratchaprasong-m79-launched-from-pratunam/

"Meanwhile, caretaker Labour Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung, who is chief of the government's anti-protest command, said he knew everything about both the attacks, but would reveal details about them later. He also said that launching M79 rounds 100-metres from the rally stage had been done with "the intention of exploiting the violence". He did not elaborate."

How does he know it is not used by criminals, there have been many instances in the last few weeks where these grenades have been used.

Or are terrorists not criminals?

WTFI "multi-load M 79 grenade launcher", they are single shot re-loadable launchers for a variety of 40mm projectiles, including teargas, smoke and other non lethal rounds as well as the HE grenade, they are like a single bore shotgun.

I am sure they are easy to come by and probable easy to knock up a disposable one time use launcher in a small machine shop, possible could even be made on a 3D printer.

Funny how they aren't so keen on getting answers around the murders of 5 children and the numerous attacks on the demonstration sites.

Maybe the vibrations broke a few drinks in Chalerms cabinet.

well without getting into debate here, but what on earth would a civil police force be doing with any type of grenade launcher multiple or single launch - honestly is this for real or what
