May 30, 200620 yr The concert is at the new vinery next to Buddha Mountain. From Pattaya drive south, 5 km past the Ambassador hotel turn left. Another 5 or so km on the left hand side, just past Buddha Mountain. Tickets are 1,200 Baht, but not on sale yet - so you have to buy the ticket just before the show. More info here: http://www.silverlakethai.com/BillBruford.html
May 30, 200620 yr He's also in Bangkok on Friday. I know the guy has played with anyone whos anyone but I'm not too sure about this Earthworks stuff......not really a jazz man (EST asides)
May 30, 200620 yr Author I saw the Earthworks about 15 years ago in a small club in Aachen, Germany. F%#ing awesome! I hope he will do that keyboard stuff on electronic drums again, never saw that somenoe else doing. The venue at Buddha Mountain is also very small and I prefer such small venues, as you can see much more than in big arenas. Bruford played with Yes and King Crimson among others, I would rather put him in the Art Rock than Jazz drawer.
May 30, 200620 yr Bruford is simply amazing, even if he plays jazz then it's not jazz anymore. I'll try to make it to his Pattaya gig.
May 30, 200620 yr Tickets are 1,200 Baht he is playing for free at the hua hin jazz festival , june 2,3,4.

May 30, 200620 yr One of the greatest drummers ever, has played with U.K, Genesis, King Crimson, but even such prestigious acts could not allow him to release his full potential as a drummer.
May 30, 200620 yr Yes.... and later on, called ....Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe is what hooked me on him... Hmmm... Saturday?? Do I suspect a "ROAD TRIP" down the road!?!?! thanks for the heads up, raro... Edited May 30, 200620 yr by sriracha john

Do I suspect a "ROAD TRIP" down the road!?!?! thanks for the heads up, raro... Sounds like a plan... I'd be up for it for sure... maybe book a ThaiVisa table? Who's in? May 31, 200620 yr Author Tickets are 1,200 Baht he is playing for free at the hua hin jazz festival , june 2,3,4. well...on June 3rd he plays in Pattaya, on the second in Bangkok and in Hua Hin on the fourth...Ticket prices in bkk go up to 2,000 Baht, not sure for Hua Hin - getting there cost me for sure more than the 1,200 admission fee in Pattaya. Jai Dee: it looks like an amphitheater, no tables. However, meeting there ain't no bad idea. Unrelated to this concert I was discussing with another Pattaya TV member to finally start off some TV meet & greet in Pattaya and maybe this concert and some drinks afterwards in town could be a decent kick-off for that? Anybody who's interested may PM me. Cheers raro
May 31, 200620 yr I've never heard of him You've never heard of the English band "Yes"? Although i am younger than you old gits. No comment. Sambuca for everyone.... any decent maps to this place... the website doesn't help much. and oh yes... second the on the old git stuff... if not for the arthritis, cataracts, Alzheimers, and heart palpitations, I'd get all riled up by that.
June 1, 200620 yr any decent maps to this place... the website doesn't help much. Do you know the Buddha mountain road SJ? I'll see if I can find some better directions. SJ: "Do you know where Silverlake is? it's near Buddha Mountain?" Missus: "Yes. They have a winery there. Why?" SJ: "There's a concert there Saturday and so I asked the guys at TV if they knew of any good maps to drive there." Missus: "Why did you ask those old gits? Besides, you wouldn't do the driving, I would. Your arthritis, cataracts, Alzheimers, and heart palpitations prevent you from driving." ------------------------------------------------ uhhhmm.... thanks anyway, Jai Dee... no need.

June 1, 200620 yr Shall we wear identification marks? Or will all three spectators come from TV anyways? We had the same concern during the last Pattaya Piss Up at Blues Factory... so we decided to solve it and ended up having 7 different tv members all wearing this identical outfit to easily identify ourselves.. Since it proved to work extremely well to separate us from the rest of the crowd and as there's a shop on Third Road that can quickly prepare dozens of them, we were thinking about making it the official uniform of Thaivisa members at any public function: SJ outside The Blues Factory Edited June 1, 200620 yr by sriracha john
June 1, 200620 yr "Why did you ask those old gits? Besides, you wouldn't do the driving, I would. Your arthritis, cataracts, Alzheimers, and heart palpitations prevent you from driving." So does that mean you and penz (and wives) are coming along then? Shall we wear identification marks? Or will all three spectators come from TV anyways? I've met SJ, penzman, Prof, Dave, and a couple of other TV members before... but not you raro. At TV meets in the past we've not had any problems... just introduce yourself or maybe just ask "ThaiVisa member?" June 1, 200620 yr At TV meets in the past we've not had any problems... just introduce yourself or maybe just ask "ThaiVisa member?" don't listen to that part, raro... He's obviously forgotten that he was wearing the same outfit above as everyone else did because it was the only way to easily identify us and avoided this problem.. in fact, he also drank so much that his goggles kept slipping off and the snow parka collar kept folding down.
June 1, 200620 yr .. in fact, he also drank so much that his goggles kept slipping off and the snow parka collar kept folding down. At least I didn't have to stop on the way home to unload some excess sambucca... At least I didn't have to stop on the way home to unload some excess sambucca... that wasn't me... that was the other imbiber... so there, Mr. Smarty Pants... you can't give ME a hard time... as I'm no lightweight drinker nor dumbie, I didn't puke buckets until AFTER we got home and I was carried in and had been laid down on the freshly-ironed sheets of my bed.... and spewed all over the pillows... Can you wear this splendid outfit and I will know who you are. Just hope it won't scare the wife away who will come along...
June 1, 200620 yr This is presumably the wet-weather version, to be worn if there is some rain during the concert.

June 2, 200620 yr Just noticed that Mr. Bruford's Earthworks will have as a guest: Tim Garland Web Page who plays... 1. Tenor Sax 2. Silver Yanagisawa Soprano Sax a great instrument 3. Alto Sax and 4. Bass Clarinet should be a great time... Edited June 2, 200620 yr by sriracha john
June 2, 200620 yr I was the one with my head out the car window. Not that I'm proud of it, just to make things clear, unlike the windshiled on the car that followed us behind.
June 3, 200620 yr saw them last night at the hua hin festival , they consist of bruford on drums , a keyboard man who is superb , a more than useful bass guitar player and tim garland on assorted saxophones and flutes who again , is just superb. to those who are going tonight , well its not the easiest stuff to listen to and the rhythms are hard to follow , but there is no doubting their ability or enthusiasm for their music. there was a stall set up selling bruford t shirts and cds and after the set he joins the staff there selling and chatting to customers .
