Asian workers allowed work in Thailand without permits ?

Featured Replies

I have been told that work permits for Philippino Burmese and other local countries are going to be readily available in Thailand after October ! As part of some work agreement between several Asian countries

Anyone got details ?

Visa section might provide better input.

I have seen nothing about that. Possibly misinformation about AEC coming into effect at the end of the year. Which will not have any special arrangements for workers.

There is already as special program for workers from Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos that makes their work permits and visas easier to obtain.

Even the website of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) has no details on it other than the mention of "recognition of professional qualifications" as one of the areas of cooperation.

Correction: I found this:

The answer to your question is no

Only a few specialised jobs will be able to migrate between AEC memberstates with less paperwork involved.

Burmese, Laotions, Cambodians can very easily obtain a L-A migrant visa, /wp, valid for 2 years and have been able to for some time.

Philippinos still need go the wp route.
