It very much depends upon where and who. There are places in Bangkok (Nana complex) that are far more mercenary than any Pattaya equivalents but there are also some very classy clubs where most Pattaya based expats would stand no chance as richer working expats and particularly richer Thais living there have the scene sorted. If you are talking about office girls, nurses etc. then the differences might disappear somewhat and it would depend more upon who you are rather than who the girl is.

Having witnessed it from the "supply end" of rural Issaan I would say that there are far more genuinely single (usually fell-out with now ex-hubby) ladies in the 25-35 age group who make their way to the fleshpots than there are the stereotypical ones you describe rgs. Probably a broad mix though.

I live in Chiang Mai which is totally different than any place in Thailand. I would say that the ladies here are very 'picky'. Some do not go out at all. others only go out with the 'right' guy. many are after a 'husband' and seem to be sensible about it. the cost of living is lower in CM therefore the ladies can live on a few drinks each night. it is just different here. you come to CM to have a few beers, meet people, and especially play pool. many. many bars have pool tables that are very difficult. get use to it and don't fight it.

i generally cant be bother to get embroiled in this type of discussion, but i trust you are not speaking about "girls" but rather women in the sex trade.

It would seem to me while they may adjust their expectations depending on where they choose to set up shop, these women are rarely from either bangkok or pattaya to begin with.

I would also suspect that some of the burden lies with the expectations of the men they encounter in either place.

You, my friend, are living a nightmare. If you fly up to Udon, and promise not to fall in love with a prostitute (yes even here) ... I think we can find you a decent lady. Language may be a slight problem, but patience and a little schooling will get you both on the level.

This is not a business offer, it is just so darn easy to find a good partner, if you stay away from hookers. Just ensure she enjoys what you enjoy....at least have something in common. And date her as you would any lady....do not insist on favors.

I get at least 3 requests per day to find boyfriends for friends of my gal. These are working class, normal ladies...some divorced/some bad relatinships. They are not young..as you find in pattaya. Just nice people....

I don't find them any different but you ain't going to find love in Thailand as you know it. A Western guys concept of a relationship leading to love is totally different to any Thai girls conception. Generally Western man / woman relationships start with mutual physical attraction followed by conversation. The resulting conversation will determine any possibility of things leading to a future relationship Couples are normally of similar age , of similar standing in the looks department and have simlilar interests. It's very rare to see that compatability in a farang / Thai relationship. Thai women don't seem to be too bothered about age , looks or your interests. Conversation , well forget that unless it's basic stuff. Try to take said conversation to any depth or logic and you'll be pulling your hair out. Sure some girls do speak very good English and have a certain level of conversation but even so i've never met one who's going to challenge the old grey matter of a Western guy with an average education. I guess there may be some capable of discussing nuclear physics but you won't really see those with a farang. Even then it's odds on they've never heard of Elvis or the Beatles. You have to adapt but it does work. I've been with my bit of fluff for 12 years and no problems. She speaks great English but for real conversation i have to seek farang mates in Pattaya every 2 months. If i couldn't do that i'd go crazy. Oh yes ... Your financial status is very important to all Thai ladies irrespective of her being a bar girl or one from the perfume counter in Robinsons. Yes Western women are interested in your financial standing but it's not so important as you see here in Thailand.

Why would you suggest the OP has never met a Pat or BKK girl? I know quite a few girls who were born and raised in both Pattaya and Bangkok, a couple still live in those areas, a couple have moved due to work. In your opinion, would they count?

Well said Ladies and I completely agree. As a married man to a Thai Lady (who has two Bachelor Degrees) and comes from a respectable Family with many respectable female friends, I believe they far outway in numbers, than the number of Bar Girls. Generally they are much more reserved from a romance point of view, but readily make friends with those who show friendship and kindness and do not come on too strong in a flirting way.
