Oly and Pentax come out of that pretty much unscathed.

At least Sergeant Schultz in Hogans Hero's admitted it...." I know Nus-sing!"

As I pointed out in some of my previous ramblings in this forum...many

camera manufacturers simply remind me of a couple red necks working

on their pickup truck...."Golly gee...lets stick this in here & see what

happens." Where is the real R & D & innovation? Not with Nik and perhaps

not so much with Can either....that's a shame.

I can switch the anti-aliasing filter on and off on the K-3. It uses the five direction shake reduction system. Also I can track stars with long exposure in camera for up to five minutes, without stacking, no star trails. The sensor moves with the rotation of the earth guided by the GPS unit. I can also work the camera in Live View using an iPad or Android device, or my laptop.

The build quality is also superb.

The only thing it falls down on is AF speed, but Pentax favours AF accuracy over speed. We'll see what the next firmware update brings.

The smaller players are worth looking at. No Dereck's at the smaller firms. Yet . . .

Oh, and I can use any M42 or Pentax K-mount lens, to infinity focus without the need for an optical adapter . . . with focus peaking and with focus peaking on a tablet or PC.

The leaders & innovators of yesterday, in today's world,

simply aren't...more than a shame, it's sad.

Looks possible a full frame Pentax will be out this year. Finger crossed.

Been a bit of a Soviet project otherwise known as vapourware, but now Ricoh owns them it's likely.

645DII looks good, but MF too bog and expensive.

Young sunny,

I think you are partly right but I'd say it's got more to do with the company accountants rather than Nikons development team not wanting to push further, faster.

That's the problem with the last few years in many industries the accountants are number crunching, things arnt progressing smoothly.

I agree with the article about Niks DF. When I first examined the camera, I stopped and pondered.....<deleted>?

Bean counters are the cause of all the worlds problems today ND. It used to be lawyers

but I reckon the bean counters & lawyers have teamed up and are destroying the world

with little regard for anybody...especially for engineers. They run departments these days

that were once run by people with vast field experience who knew what it cost to get the job

done. All these accountants & lawyers understand is how to keep the profit envelope fat and

keep the influx of $$$$$ flowing in so rapidly minute by minute. Bad product? Tell the engineers

to make another in less than a week....or fire the engineers if they can't accomplish the task.

What we end up with is elephants designed by committies of accountants & lawyers without

a single engineer involved. God help us....and our children.
