Baby car seat Chiang Rai

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

We are traveling to Phayao via Chiang Rai airport and the car rental company don't do newborn seats.

Would anyone have a second hand one for sale or know somewhere near the airport that would have a low price one as it's only needed for 9 days.

Thanks

A point to consider is the rear seat belts may not be long enough.

As for the seat you get them in robinsons

Crap really ? Never thought seatbelts would be anything but a standard size. If Avis supply baby seats for toddlers but not newborns surely the seatbelt would fit ?

Thanks for the robinsons tip but from what I can see they are about 9000 baht which is a a lot for a weeks use :(

The toddler seat is front facing the belt doesn't need to stretch the same as newborn as the newborn seat is rear facing, robinsons sell the seat you can look at the online catalogue-viva kids and scroll through the stuff I got a camera one it's a nasty Chinese made seat but they don't have anything else and it is better than nothing....

Thanks mate

Will check them out although I may have to wait until we collect the car to see if the belt fits. Appreciate the advice it could have been a costly waste of money.

It's crap the way Thailand's road safety is so bad when it comes to kids travel.

Like many things they are slowly getting there, they treat good car seats like they do luxury cars

Moved to CR forum.

Maybe inquire how much a short classified ad is in the Chiang Mai Mail, looking to borrow/rent one for a week, or info on a more-local car rental agency that may supply them.

Sorry irlguy1, I can't help with your car-seat request, but you can get hold of cheap(ish) ones online for about 5000bht (which would get you a fairly decent one back home). If you can't read/write Thai, you will want to get your other half to look around (assuming she is Thai).

If you can't do that, PM me and I can send you some links...

Cool Kids sell one for about 3500B, and whisper it quietly, they sell exactly the same model in the West under a different brand name, it meets EU specs. We got it with the push-chair, 7500B all in and they click together so the chair can be used with the carrier from birth. If flying back home, can take the push chair on the plane, and maybe the seat too.

Time for me to step in and remove all the less than helpful posts. Only answers relating directly to the OP's original quest for a car baby seat have been allowed. Thank you.
