Latest Harassment Ploy; The Tax Stamp on the Lease

Well maybe not the latest but certainly a hassle.

Without going into too much detail on my work, trying to get a provincial authority to do their job and they want to see my lease. Not really pertinent, but OK I 'll play nice.

BIG MISTAKE Where is the tax stamp? Huh? What is that? Thai neighbor say " Oh easy, costs 10 baht go to the post office." No such thing there, Go to the Amphur . OK

Go in , ask for the stamp, she puts out two for 10 baht, the lady in the rear sees me " Oh farang" she exclaims runs up with her calculalator- let me see. Uh Oh

Lease is 240,000 baht a year x 7 % = 16,800 I'll need to pay. Um isn't that the landlord's responsibilty "You want stamp or not?"

Guess she hasn't seen the stamps on the desk, with my 10 baht change that I pick up under guise of setting papers down on top.

I'll probably have to show a receipt, though.

Time for a very fake, very cheap lease.
