Anyone recall or know the dimensions of the bay one reverses into and the width and distance from the kerb of the yellow line? One of my guys failed his reversing test because the fool tried it in one of the company trucks not a car borrowed from an examiner so we would like to build a replica bay and yellow line.

From what I have seen of Thai drivers reversing....a football field would be the best size bay! biggrin.png

I cannot find it quickly but it was on the website of transport in the requirements for driving instructors section.

It is a normal large bay but not excessively large.

I sympathise with him as they also have a test where you reverse through a soi of flags about twice the leangth of a car and as I drove the test in a Vigo I had driven for about 10 minutes clipped one the first time. THey let me have a second go. It was pretty tight for a truck but would be no problem in a small car.

Easiest for the test if he does it in a normal car. The bends he has to go through are more geared to that. Make sure he knows a hill start unless he does it in an auto..

I thought it was about 500 bht wide. thumbsup.gif

Not for me. I have been driving for a while though. The mirrors on the Vigo took some getting used to on the soi test as that kind of mirror is ilegal there and the back view was obstructed from inside on my vehicle. Made it though. clipped the last pole the first time then did it ok. I would not class it as easy with a larger vehicle though..

I thought it was impossible for Thai drivers to reverse park unless some idiot is blowing a whistle. whistling.gif

Harry,

When I did the test I angled the mirror down so I could see the yellow line in the it. thumbsup.gif

Good tip...but I should not have to do it again.
