Insurance for Thai person

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can someone please shed some insight on available hospital insurance for Thai people.

I will like to insure my in laws who are in their 50s, they are currently covered under the state insurance program but I will like to move them to a private insurer with better coverage

Most important is hospitalisation coverage like ward charges, surgery charges etc... co pay is ok and I am keen on a basic plan only.

They willnot be able to find good coverage, let alone comparable to their present one, with a private insurer. The private insurance could be used to upgrade service though, but that is relatively a hell of a lot of money.

I would say, leave it as it is.

thanks for the reply stevenl.

im in a fix and heres the situation: Im overseas constantly and so is my wife.

the hospital that my Mother in law goes to in Mae Ai refuses to send her to a gov hospital like SuanDork. They say she's fine so she visited Mc Cormick who wanted to charge her 20K for an ultrasound on her womb.

I asked around and Suandork only charges 5K for the same procedure with referral from the province hospital. it appears that the Gov insurance cover at provincial hospitals isnt really helpful as it seems that unless you are terminally ill, you dont get a referral to better Gov restructured hospitals.

this is why i wanted a hospital outpatient cover of sorts for her.

anyone have knowledge on how Muang Thai assurance works? its all in thai and i cant understand. my wife's pretty clueless on such things as well and so are her relatives..

The cover will be more limited than the government insurance, plus take into account that any pre-existing conditions will be excluded.
