BANGKOK: -- The ex-husband of a woman found dead with a gunshot wound to the back of the head in a Ramkhamhaeng University parking lot yesterday morning has been charged with murder after surrendering to police and confessing to the killing.

The body of Sirikorn Chairacha, 38, was found at about 8am in the driver's seat of her Toyota Prius in front of the university's sport complex.

Police identified Chansak Hiangko, 43, as the shooter.

Chansak said he had been married to the victim for 16 years and they had two children, a 12-year-old and an eight-year-old, but six months ago she tried to distance herself from him.

He said Sirikorn had asked to see their son at the university and as they spoke the child waited in his father's car.

After arguing with Sirikorn, Chansak went to his car for a gun and then shot her. He then fled.

Chansak has also been charged with illegally carrying a gun with ammunition in public.

So he has confessed to murder but not been charged with that. Are reporters not allowed to ask questions?

The tiny minded way to deal with your problems.

He looks like he has been arrested by the Caribao road crew.

Investigative journalism....there is very little here in Thailand and no..they cannot ask questions for fear of intimidation.

Their editors are also fearful.....

very sad, my heart goes out to her family, especially her kids who may have to live without their mother or father.

They probably haven't charged him because he may have been justified in shooting her. After all TiT.

From the OP rolleyes.gif

I don't know about Thailand being the most dangerous country to drive in but it is certainly the most dangerous country to get divorced in. Two more children's lives completely screwed up because of a parent unable to deal and cope with emotion. sad.png

What is even more scary is the reporting of the incident. He admits to the murder but is charged only with carring a weapon

And THE NATION wants you to respect their newsreporting

Perhaps the Nation just expects people that peruse their articles or buy newspapers to be able to read. Once again for the visually impaired!

The very first sentence

The ex-husband of a woman found dead with a gunshot wound to the back of the head in a Ramkhamhaeng University parking lot yesterday morning has been charged with murder after surrendering to police and confessing to the killing.

And the last sentence

Chansak has also been charged with illegally carrying a gun with ammunition in public.

Is 10 am too early for you guys or is there a nation-wide coffee shortage wink.png There are only 9 lines in the OP, not exactly a 400 word article to wade through.

Where does it say he has NOT been charged with murder?

With all the 'Top Charoen' shops available out here

you would think everyone's eyesight would be better.

Hold on, now, can't be having anybody lose face.

it seems so easy to get a gun in this country .... coffee1.gif

..and much easier to use it..

Shoot now and think of the consequences later.

Typical thai behaviour.

Only typical thai behaviour ?..... I can think of one nationality where things like this are regular occurrences and even worse things happen ie schools being shot up and children killed

So this trait is not uniquely Thai

Point taken. Made an incorrect assumption where I assumed a Thai guy would get the benefit of the doubt even in a murder.

You're thinking of Southern Thailand when you mention school killings? Thailand has the 3rd highest gun murder rate per capita in the world - far more than any Western country.

And even more scary than that is the fact that you can't read a report properly. He has been charged with murder.

This kind of thing is getting very frequent, quite scary actually..

No CCTV there that caught him doing a little dance of happiness after he murdered her, like the Thai man a few months ago?

Er no

very sad, my heart goes out to her family, especially her kids who may have to live without their mother or father.

How on earth can your heart go out to people you do not know, have never seen and never will know? Too much of this sentimental twaddle of my sympathy blah blah on the internet. Well meaning, but very silly.

Why is The Nation responsible for the charges the police bring?

It's not about eyesight.

A sentence longer than 12 words can only be full understood by a few. And the first sentence came in with a

whooping 40 words! Way to long for the average TV participant...

So he has confessed to murder but not been charged with that. Are reporters not allowed to ask questions?

The article says he has ALSO been charged with carrying a gun and ammunition.

Statistics shown that a person will get harm form someone which they know then a stranger 60-70 % causing injure or death because sudden anger which very dangerous if cannot control of it. It ends up regret for whole life in prison, sure someone will thinking of raised children together and end in tragedy like this.

It still can happen to some blog readers as wife might cheated love or money away from you, if it happen walk away stay with some friends house drunk yourself better that make a stupid decision which hurt both side.

Another sad story

Chansak said he had been married to the victim for 16 years and they had two children, a 12-year-old and an eight-year-old, but six months ago she tried to distance herself from him.

He said Sirikorn had asked to see their son at the university and as they spoke the child waited in his father's car.

Child prodigy?

Child prodigy?

Or more likely the man or his now deceased ex wife worked at the University and it was a convenient meeting place.
