PATTAYA:--As the search for Malaysian Airlines flight MH 370 continues and following on from news that 2 tickets were purchased using stolen passports from an agent in Pattaya, the Pattaya Police Chief checked over 50 Travel Agents in Pattaya on Wednesday to ensure they thoroughly check travel documents prior to any flight bookings.

Police Colonel Supachai confirmed that he will arrange a meeting where all Travel Agents based in Pattaya will be invited to attend. Immigration Police will also be in attendance and will go through checks of passports and visas that must be made before the agents can accept bookings.

Come on now. A little bit of perspective here.

Even the Thai immigration police admitted they do not use the Interpol data-base, which is not available to non-government organisations like travel agents or airline companies. How are the travel agencies expected to guess which passport is fake?

Book online.

Easy.

Why pay agent commission ?

Booking online requires a credit card. You can obviously pay an agent cash. It may cost a little more, but not always and depending how much you fly the risk of credit card theft exists so who needs the hassle or exposure of same? I might add FYI, the local ATM cards with the VISA logo "electron" don't work for online purchases.
