From this month the Thai consulate in Gothenburg no longer accept visa applications by mail. It was the last place in Sweden where I could do it by mail before this.

I'm thinking of using the www.allavisum.se company to do it the next time. Anyone that have used them before? If so are they good? Many big travel agents recommend them. They do all kinds of Thai visa. The money they charge for it is much less than going to Stockholm or Gothenburg for me. I would appreciate any thoughts or comments about it

Can you apply for a non immigrant O or non immigrant O-A visa by mail in another country than your own?

It will probably cost more also

It has gotten harder to do mail in applications to honorary consulates. One of the reason for that is to prevent mail in applications from another country.

You could try for a non-o visa. OA visas can only be issued by the embassy or official Thai consulate in your home country.

Ok thanks a lot. I know the company that I wrote about in my original post do both O and OA visa. But they go to the Embassy in Stockholm like you say. Thank you both

You will not get a non-o visa from the embassy. They will only do a OA visa because you are Swedish.

Yes I'm Swedish. And the embassy in Stockholm is also in Sweden. That's where they do it

Why do you belive that they would NOT issue the non O visa? I am over 50 years. I have the pension and money that they demand on their website. And one of my friends got the non O at the Stockholm embassy about six months ago

Because it is embassy policy that probably came from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that do not do non-o's because they only do OA visas.

Are you sure your friend didn't get one based upon marriage. It they do issue them they would be the only one I know of that will.

Must agree with previous posts you only get a Non-Immigrant O Visa if you are married to a Thai citizen and have a marriage certificate or you are the registered father of a child born to a Thai (your name has to be on the birth certificate).

I have over the years had to apply for Non-Immigrant O visas in various parts of the world (I travel a lot as an international consultant) and because I'm not actually not formally married to my partner been asked to produce the full set of supporting documents - like a translation of my passport so that my name (translated) corresponds to the name on my sons Thai birth certificate and a set of photos showing me, my partner and my son standing outside our house + a close up of the family standing by our front gate with the house number clearly visible (this house number must correspond to the intended place you will be staying at in Thailand).

Never heard of a OA Visa so can't comment.

There are two kinds of non-O visa when apply at the embassy in Stockholm. The one you describe is the non-O spouse/family one. The other is the non-O over 50 and retired. And that's the one my friend have. There you have to show papers that you are over 50 and retired. And an income of 14500 sek a month. Or 44500 sek in a deposit account for the last 3 months

There is only one non-O visa, given for various reasons such as marriage or retirement and the reason determines the requirements you must meet.

Next there is the O-A visa, which is only for retirement and has stricter criteria than a non-O visa based on retirement. But many Thai embassies and consulates will only issue an O-A visa and not a non-O visa if you are a national or resident of that country.

It says this to get a non-o.

6. A copy of your Income monthly from

6.1) Pension income certificate from (Försäkringskassan) or Private insurances company with amount of not less than 14,500 SEK per months (after taxes)

***In case of your monthly income less than 14,500 SEK you can also bring

6.2) A copy of pension income certificate from Försäkringskassan/ private insuances company and also A copy of bank statements showing deposit account (CASH ONLY) not less than 44,500 SEK in the past 3 months. Document must be original in English, stamped and signed by authorizer and issued not more than 3 months

It appears that the money in the bank is and income not only money in the bank.

This is the only embassy I know of that will do a non-o for being 50 or over.

You need to have 14500 sek in income every month OR 44500 sek in the bank for the past 3 months.

Your link also say that. It's only if your monthly income is less than 14500 sek that you need the bank statement.

But it's not enough to be over 50. You must be retired and have paper that show that.

To be fair, most people that have worked in Sweden will have those 14500 sek when they are retired

If you have the income proof then it would be best to apply a OA long stay visa. You cab get almost 2 years of stay out of it and would only have to leave the country once if you didn't want to travel. You could leave and re-enter just before the visa expires and get another year of stay..

Posted

Thanks ubonjoe. Yes I know. And I have the income to get the OA longstay. And I will apply for that one in the future. At the moment the the non-O will be better for me. Because I fly to Cambodia 2-3 times a year. And I also go back to Sweden a couple of weeks two times a year.

Thank you.

You can do the same thing with a OA visa for the first year and get a new 1 year entry every time. After visa expires you can do the same thing by getting a multiple re-entry permit at immigration that will keep your last one year entry valid.

Posted

A multiple re-entry permit costs 3800 baht.

You your OA visa will be valid for one year from date of issue and during that year you will get one year entries. By doing an entry on or before the date the visa expires (enter before date on visa sticker) you will get a one year entry. You then can get and use a multiple re-entry permit up to he date that entry ends.

After that you would need to get another OA visa or apply for a one year extension of stay at immigration.
